Off The Grid Readathon – 2020 Dates!

Are you ready for another year of practicing your reading focus? I know I am! The Off The Grid Readathon started in October of 2018 on a whim. I found myself setting out time to read only to waste it scrolling Twitter, Instagram, and other things that distract and encourage procrastination. I did my own little 24 hour readathon where I made sure not to even touch my social media and….. it’s amazing how much you can accomplish when you’re not distracting yourself!! You were all so interested in the idea and asked it to be a thing – so the Off The Grid Readathon was born!

If you’re new to this readathon and you’re looking for the details, you can find the very first announcement post HERE. Please keep in mind that the dates will be wrong as this was posted in 2018.

I had to make a change for this year and make it the third weekend of the month and NOT the second weekend. I had something going on almost every second weekend and there would be no time for me to read let alone host lol. All other details will remain the same. The readathon will begin at 12:00am on the Friday (basically as the clock strikes 12 on Thursday evening) and will end at 11:59am on Sunday night. That’s three whole days!

Just before I go into the dates, I wanted to also take the time to remind you that this isn’t a “forget your life and responsibilities because there are books to be read for 3 whole days” type of readathon! If you work, have kids, go to school, have events planned….. you can STILL participate! This readathon has nothing to do with challenges or reading as many books as you can. The point of this readathon is to read as much as possible within the timeframes you have. If you decide to take the day off work and power read an entire book on a Friday afternoon – go for it (and I’m totally not jealous…..). But if all you have is 30 minutes to read on Friday, the goal is to set your phone aside and not touch it for the entire 30 minutes!

Now that the details are out of the way, let’s see what the dates are for 2020!!!

January 17, 18, 19
April 17, 18, 19
July 17, 18, 19
October 16, 17, 18

If you have any further questions or curiosities, don’t hesitate to ask! I hope that you can find the time to join us for these dates! But if you have something planned and can’t participate on those days, do it on days that work best for you! I update Twitter for the readathon frequently before and during the readathon so make sure you’re following @OffTheGridReads. Also make sure that you’re following co-host Justine on her YouTube channel – HERE’S THE LINK! I Feel like she always explains the readathon better than I do lol!!

Who’s in??

Until next time, happy reading!

  2. These are so much fun! I liked the added push to get reading done, even if it’s just an extra hour over the weekend. And hey, one of these falls on my birthday weekend, so it’s clearly destiny!

I got all of this week’s school work done last night, so I’m in (for January)! I don’t know that I’ll blog about it ahead of time because I’m joining so last minute, but I’ll be blogging about it after the fact. And I’ll be sure to participate on Twitter by letting everyone know what I’m reading and what I’ve finished!
