Weekly Wrap Up – Dec 9 – 15

Where did this week go?? It was productive as hell but I swear I don’t remember anything but working…… probably because all I did was work lol!! I packaged a few thousand bags of our product, baked well over 500 cookies, read a book, cleaned my house, got my nails done, my husband turned 39, and painted 2 watercolour pictures. It sounds like a lot, right? Well, I didn’t sleep much! Not for lack of trying lol Though it all I was in a reasonably good mood though! If I could make it through all of that and not have an anxiety flare up – I count that as a massive win!! There is a metric shit ton of stuff to talk about today so let’s dive in!

The starless sea

THE STARLESS SEA by Erin Morgenstern – 4.5 stars
This woman’s writing is like no other! I had chills while reading this. She sucks you in completely, making you forget your surroundings and just live on the page. The atmosphere still creeps into my thoughts. I want to be in this world. I want it to be real. I want to see the firelight, smell the books, and feel the comfort of the walls and the “sea”. I’m still not entirely happy about the ending but the book as a whole makes up for it!

Look at these covers together!! Ugh I love Christmas SOOOO much! My kids and husband have said that I was an elf in a past life. I go gaga over Christmas movies and music, we have two (maybe 3?) Christmas trees of varying sizes all over the house, and lights everywhere. CHRISTMAS AT CEDARWOOD LODGE by Rebecca Raisin is the book i’m currently reading. I like it – it’s cute, family, friend, and romance oriented, and just what I was expecting. I’m about halfway through and it’s not as Christmassy as I hoped though. It’s only now just getting into the Christmas season. FINDING CHRISTMAS by Karen Schaler is the book i’m picking up next and all I know is that it involves a Christmas crazy girl who sets up a scavenger hunt for her Grinch boyfriend and a different guy ends up finding the clues……. I’m totally down for that!!!

This was the week that we admitted defeat and talked about theΒ top 5 books we didn’t get to in 2019. Writing the list was sad but at the same time it made me REALLY want to read them! I hope that these will be some of the first I read in 2020! Next week is the FINAL topic of 2019…….. I’m not crying, you’re crying! That topic is “Dear Santa, I would like these 5 books!” Join in on the fun and tell me what’s on your christmas list πŸ™‚ Thank you to all of you for participating this year and making it the best one yet! Topics for January will be announced sometime in the first week of the year.

It’s the end of the year and there are SO MANY posts I still need to do! All of them will lead up to the big “top 10 of 2019” list – which is my favourite post to write πŸ™‚ Since this week is jam packed so full of my favourite posts, I decided to announce my blogging schedule. As I do every year, I will be taking a hiatus just before Christmas and coming back shortly after the new year. More on that later in the week. Here’s what I’ll be posting this week:

  • MONDAY – Off The Grid Readathon 2020 Dates
  • TUESDAY – Dear Santa, I would like these 5 books!
  • WEDNESDAY – My year in books – stats for 2019
  • THURSDAY – Most Disappointing Reads of 2019
  • FRIDAY – Top 10 Books of 2019!!!!!
  • SATURDAY – Merry Christmas and Happy New Year (my final day before the hiatus)

There was one more thing that I wanted to mention but I didn’t want to necessarily call attention to it. I finally found my way back to creativity! I love art. Always have. But when I went to college, worked full time, had kids….. I stopped. And then books….. lol. It’s hard to take time for anything other than books! But this week I did two pen drawings and then painted them with watercolour. I LOVE THEM! If you enjoy that type of thing then check out my Instagram (which I’m going to really try harder to keep up with in 2020 lol). Not fishing for likes (which is why I didn’t want to call attention to it). It’s just something that made me really happy this week πŸ™‚ That about covers it all. This week is going to be my favourite week for blogging – I hope you’re ready!

Until next time, happy reading!
