Top 5 books that made me laugh

I honestly assumed it would take me minutes to choose my books and write the post…. wrong! It took me FOREVER to choose my books and I only ended up with 4 books…. Folks, this was a rude awakening! Over the last few weeks I’ve been really enjoying the Winston Brothers series by Penny Ried. It’s a light romance that’s sprinkled with humour and I’m loving being able to smile and laugh while reading. But when I sat down to write this post I realized just how little I read when it comes to funny! I apparently love dark and creepy shit…. I might have to change that! Especially in the time of social distancing when I could use a lot of joy!

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme where I explore different topics. If you are interested in participating I would love to have you! Here is a list of my Upcoming topics in April – please remember to ping back a specific post of mine so I get a notification and I will add you to the participants list!

Grin and beard it

GRIN AND BEARD IT by Penny Reid

I just mentioned the Winston Brothers series so of course I was going to make sure that one of them was on my list! Of the three i’ve read so far, this one made me smile and laugh the most. Both of these characters were hilarious and often used their humour to get them through certain situations. Some of these lines were so funny I almost spit out my drink!

Hounded

HOUNDED (THE IRON DRUID CHRONICLES) by Kevin Hearne

This series is one that I REALLY need to get back to! The plots are interesting, really fast paced, and the main character is one of the most ancient and immortal beings on the planet…. he gives no shits about his safety and takes some really stupid chances. Because of his fearlessness, his mouth and actions get him into a lot of trouble. But it was the dog that I loved and laughed at the most! The whole time I was reading I read the dogs lines in the voice of Scooby Doo….. THAT made things interesting lol

At the stroke of midnight

AT THE STROKE OF MIDNIGHT by Tara Sivec

I’m totally cheating with this one. When I did this topic 2 years ago, this one made the list. I feel bad for mentioning a repeat BUT, at the same time, if a book is still hilarious inside my head from 2 years ago then it deserves to be mentioned again! This book caught me off guard more than any other i’ve read! I ended up blushing but only because it was just SO unexpected!

The lies of Locke Lamora

THE LIES OF LOCKE LAMORA by Scott Lynch

I had so many people tell me that the humour of this book would speak to me…. that it did! It had one of the funniest and simplest lines that has stuck with me for years – “Nice bird, asshole.” I don’t know why, but I love that line. You’d have to have read this book to understand why it’s so funny! The second one was just as funny!

I forgot ALL about Oberon! Darn, that would have been a good one to include. He is hilarious!

Also, I’ve tried to read The Lies of Locke Lamora and I couldn’t get into it. I think I need to try again.

        1. The narrator does a really good job with it. Since the book is so detailed, listening to it makes it so much more enjoyable. Soon you won’t be able to stop!
