Happy top 5 Tuesday everyone! I’m starting to think that Tuesday’s are forever cursed for me. I’ve got a wrist injury and am typing with one hand……. if you haven’t noticed already, I’m a bit (lot) accident prone and I’m always hurting myself. This is a reoccurring injury and I just need to have it put back into place. Appointment is this afternoon. Because of this I won’t be able to comment on your posts. It’s literally too painful. This is the third post in the Harry Potter Hogwarts house series! Week one was Gryffindor House, week two was Ravenclaw House, and next week is Slytherin!
Once again, if you’re not familiar with Hufflepuff house and their traits, here is some more information about their traits:
They are hard working, determined, tenacious, loyal, honest, genuine, well rounded, fair and just, open minded, giving, good hearted, accepting, compassionate, practical, patient, unemotional, and dependable. Their loyalty is not given – it’s earned.
As I did last week, this will be a list of both books and characters that represent those traits. Here we go:
Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme where I explore different topics. If you are interested in participating I would love to have you! Here is a list of my Upcoming topics in February – please remember to ping back a specific post of mine so I get a notification and I will add you to the participants list!
PAGES AND CO by Anna James
I feel that this assessment is fair to both the book itself and the main character Tilly. This book is a wonderful adventure! Something that you must be open minded for, and accepting of the situation. Tilly has the ability to see the characters and enter into the books she reads. This requires her to be practical and compassionate with the characters, as well as the fine line of interaction so not to change the course of the stories themselves.
THE RAVEN CYCLE SERIES by Maggie Stiefvater
Like the book above, this applies to both the book and the characters. I think that there is definitely a case of loyalty being earned and not given. Even though these characters are friends, there is a certain amount of trust that each one has to have in another to move forward. They all have their issues that are impacting themselves and others, and they need to trust one another to get to the end goal. Open minded, good hearted, patient, and practical are also traits that are displayed throughout!
IN AN ABSENT DREAM by Seanan McGuire
If you’re looking for a book that displays “fair and just” better than any other book i’ve ever read….. look no further! This book is based on the Goblin Market and revolves under the pretence that everything is traded for “fair value”. Fair value is a difficult thing to pinpoint, and is different for everyone. I believe that a Hufflepuff would LOVE this book!
THRONE OF GLASS by Sarah J Maas – specifically Aelin
This was a hard one for me to put into this category. Though I think Celaena has some STRONG Slytherin undertones, the above description says a lot to Celaena. Maybe not so much in the first book. but to see her transformation through the series as a whole, she definitely has a lot of qualities that a Hufflepuff has. Like I said though – strong Slytherin undertones! It just depends on how she’s feeling….. Can’t explain completely without spoilers!
STRANGE THE DREAMER by Laini Taylor – Specifically Lazlo and Sarai
Lazlo and Sarai are hands down Hufflepuff! The above description is their personalities to a T – except for the unemotional part maybe. They’re both so genuine and good hearted, despite their situations. They were even able to convince those around them to be more kind, compassionate, and accepting – which was no easy task!

Oh I just finished Down Among the Sticks and Bones so, as a Hufflepuff, I’m very much looking forward to getting to In an Absent Dream!

Amazing picks! You listed some stuff I still need to read. I just finished the TOG series and honestly I have no idea in which house I’d put Celaena. Interesting choice, though!

Throne of Glass was my hardest choice….. I still don’t feel like it fits but I was justifying the heck out of it 😂

I’m a Hufflepuff and this is such a great list, Shanah! Though haven’t read any books from here yet but I’m so glad Strange the Dreamer made it. I’ve been meaning to get a copy of it for awhile now. Get well and I wish you NO MORE Tuesday curses!

I completely missed last week’s post (I had all the intentions of writing it, but never did!), so I ended up doing a double-feature this week: both Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, albeit in separate posts. I find it interesting you put “Strange the Dreamer” on this list, because I found that on several “Ravenclaw” lists while I was out hunting for inspiration (aka, “What types of books are others putting on their lists?”). I haven’t read the book myself, but I feel like I need to at this point. I read the first book of “The Daughter of Smoke & Bone” when it originally was published, but then completely forgot about the rest of the series.

I love how subjective it all is. Some books that are insanely popular for one house, I put into a completely opposite house. I’m loving everyone’s takes on all this!

I’m so sorry about your wrist! Hope it is better soon and you have both wrists for typing back again. These are fantastic picks for Hufflepuff. I have always felt that Hufflepuffs have ALL the feelings too and so I especially The Raven Cycle is perfect!

What beautiful recommendations for me as a Hufflepuff 😊
I hope your wrist gets sorted quickly. It is no fun not being able to use a part of your body with ease.
