Top 5 Bookish Maps!

Being a huge fantasy reader, maps are a common thing for me. Before I even start a fantasy book, I always search for a map, and I often refer back to it while I’m reading! There are quite a few stunning maps out there and I figured that it was time we talk about them! So here are my top 5 favourite bookish maps:

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme where I explore different topics. If you are interested in participating I would love to have you! Here is a list of my upcoming topics in September – please remember to ping back a specific post of mine so I get a notification and I will add you to the participants list!

The marauders map

THE MARAUDERS MAP

The first map that comes to mind is ALWAYS the Marauders Map. There’s nothing like it in the bookish world and no other that will take its place. I can see the footprints now! What I really need is a giant print out of this map to put on my wall! This map will forever and always be my favourite 🙂

Nevernight map

NEVERNIGHT/GODSGRAVE

Does this surprise anyone?? If it does, then you’re new here LOL! Not only are the books amazing but so is the map. It’s just so well drawn and very intricate. There are so many little details throughout that made me want to stare at it forever! Every time I look at it I notice something different.

Six of Crows map

SIX OF CROWS/CROOKED KINGDOM

I LOVE this map! Once again, just like in the Nevernight map, there are tiny illustrated details throughout. And that boarder…. I mean – it’s so beautiful! I also really like the font chosen.

ARTEMIS – THE MOON

This isn’t your typical bookish map. Where we normally only find maps in fantasy books, this is a map in a science fiction. It illustrates the surface of the moon, the living facilities, and other buildings of importance. I think the reason why I like this so much is that it’s just so different! And it made the setting just a little easier to picture in my mind.

Mistborn map

MISTBORN

Ok, I still haven’t read this series….. what am I doing with my life?!?!? But I have opened the book many times and looked at this map. For some reason the bold lines draw my eye every time! Not to mention the places labeled seem so normal but I assume that this book is anything but. Whether I’ve read it or not, I still appreciate this map!

So those are my top 5 favourite bookish maps! I love all maps, but the ones that have special details or illustrations make them really stick out in my mind. Being an artistic person by nature, I always gravitate towards these things! What are your favourite books maps?

Until next time, happy reading!

  13. Those maps are beautiful! From the books you mentioned, I read only Harry Potter, but now I also want to read the others 🙂
Another book with a beautiful map is Leviathan. If you don’t have the book, you can google it with the words: the grand map leviathan

I LOVE maps in books, although I very rarely look at them closely. Is that weird? Maybe it’s because my sense of direction in real life is pretty bad, so if I tried to keep track of geographic location in a fictional novel I’d get even more confused haha.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Lol same. Don’t ask me which way is north or south – I couldn’t tell you! Even if you tell me where it is, spin me around, and I’ll be lost all over again 😂

The Marauder’s Map!! ❤ ❤ ❤ That is why the third book will always be my favorite and the third movie will always be my biggest frustration (lack of tie together with Prongs and the gang).

    1. Abbie says:

The Marauder’s Map is just so good!!! And I totally agree with you about the lack of tieing in with its origins. I completely understand that not everything from the books can be included in the films, but I do feel this was one cut too far, it fleshed out their friendship and the history so much with the added details of the map.

      Liked by 2 people

      1. Exactly!! So well said! There was so much history that was lost in the movies, but the movies are still good 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      2. leetharose says:

Exactly! I also remember that being one of the mind blowing aspects of the book for me. It was a big reveal for me that added to the value of the story and I like to think that they could have just added it in a two minute span of film (knowing that it also takes way more than two minutes to actually film/edit/produce). It’ll always be one of those things I wish had been done differently…but it also makes it special for all the book readers! 🙂

    2. Exactly!! The third book is my favourite too!!

Aaaaahhhh you just HAVE to read the Mistborn series! Mind blowing distopia!!! My favourite map will forever be the map to the Lonely Mountain, with the little red Smaug, and the moon writing – The Hobbit is what first got me into fantasy reading so it is a very important, evocative and beautiful map to me 😊

    1. I will be reading Mistborn soon! It seems like a nice winter read that I can lose myself in 🙂

I didn’t even consider the Marauder’s Map since we never see it in the book, but I’m jealous I didn’t think of it because Harry Potter is supposed to be on all my lists!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. 😂 I wasn’t sure if it was fair because it was only shown in the movies. But it was talked about in the book so I made it count lol

Awesome choice of maps. 🙂 I love maps and always get excited when I see that a book has one.
I still haven’t read Mistborn yet, either. 😦 I always hear such good things about it and I love Brandon Sanderson’s online lectures about writing, so I really do need to change that soon.

    1. I’ve actually listened to a couple of his lectures and he’s an incredible person! Smart, funny, generally seemed like a great guy. Which makes me even more sad that I haven’t read any of his books 😂 glad I’m not the only one who hasn’t read them!
