Advice series – tips from fellow bloggers

This is the final post to a 4 part series of blogging advice. I felt kind of stupid doing an advice series when really, I feel like I don’t even know what I’m doing half the time, but I’ve had so many positive reactions from it! My goal was to help at least one person on their blogging journey. I’ve had quite a few comments and messages over the last few weeks from people saying that it helped them so I would say that it’s mission complete 🙂 Today I wanted to pass along some of the advice that was given from fellow bloggers. Here’s what they had to say:

Elizabeth from Red Gal Musings said:
—–“Comparison is so damaging and discouraging. Blogging is all about being uniquely you – sharing your own voice with the world. Numbers are great, but they don’t define you.”

Sophie from Beware of the Reader said:
—–“Yes we put hours and hours on our blogs but it does not feel like a chore at all just pleasure. Blog for yourself and don’t compare are the hardest ones but they are essentials. It’s difficult when you see other gorgeous blogs! I would also add: make mistakes and learn from them. I’m like you and all go first, try and adjust even if it should have been better maybe to read more beforehand. But that’s how I learn LOL”

Marie from Drizzle and Hurricane Books said:
—–“It’s so important to keep on being yourself, try to do your own thing, whether you’re into writing tons of book reviews or more into discussion things, whether you love blog hopping or just check out other blogs sporadically, and so on. Best thing to do here is to be true to ourselves, it’s also the best way to be happy with blogging 🙂”
ALSO:

—– I find that the best advice to increase traffic to your blog, is to try and be part of the community. Whether it’s with participating in memes or just blog hopping often, leaving some genuine thoughts and comments, trying to start up new conversations… all of these have been huge help for me to increase my traffic and, most importantly, just make tons of new friends

Ryann from Ryann The Reader said:
—–“If you blog for yourself, you’ll attract an audience that makes it so writing for yourself *is* writing for your audience. Otherwise you’ll have to fake it for the entire existence of your blog, and that’s just no fun!”
ALSO:
—– Another thing that helps me, particularly with things like discussion posts, is to have a few already mostly written out and saved as unscheduled drafts. That way, if my writing days get a little crazy or something unexpected comes up, I don’t have to stress because I can just grab one of those, add a few words and put it in the schedule!

Naty from Katy’s Bookshelf said:
—– I wish before blogging that I had known it would take so much time and effort… and that it’s so easy to read what everyone else is reading and not picking up the books you actually want to read! 🙂 and I definitely still need to work on that.

Dani from Perspective of a Writer said:
—– Don’t sweat the numbers. I know we all watch them and want them to go up but really if you aren’t having fun and enjoying the process of blogging you will get burnt out and won’t be able to sustain the time you need to become more popular. ❤

Samantha from Modern Witch’s Bookshelf said:
—– I also end up doing a lot of unscheduled drafts! Especially if I see a tag, or get an idea about something I want to do, but don’t have time to actually put it together. I will title it (so I know what I wanted to do) and if it has questions, ill include those, and then go back later on when I have more time.

  11. Thank you! From a new blogger this is very helpful. I often wonder who will read my thoughts…or who would want to but then I remember that I am doing this for me. Remembering things that happened in my life and writing about things I love, things I feel, and sometime the first things that come to my mind.

    Thank you again!
