November Wrap Up!

Is it just me? It seems that once the calendar flips to September, the rest of the year flies by SO fast! I can’t believe that we are going into December! December is my favourite time of the year, so maybe it’s going by so fast because I’m so excited! I usually don’t read much in December so I’m happy that I was able to finish 7 books this month. It was a really great month for book choices too! A few amazing 5 stars and a few good 3-4 stars. All in all I was really happy with the books I read this month. I reviewed everything I read in November with the exception of It by Stephen King. That one was so hard to review and pretty much everyone knows what happens in the story. Here’s what I read in November:

Artemis

ARTEMIS by Andy Weir <—– (full review) 5 stars!
OMG this book was just SO good! I absolutely loved the main character Jazz! She’s rude, blunt, and not a really good person in general. But if I was stuck on the moon, this is the girl that I would love to hang out with and have a few drinks with! In true Andy Weir fashion, there’s a lot of science, but it’s written so well that I understood every bit of it! He’s made is way onto my auto buy authors list for sure!

They Both Die At The End

THEY BOTH DIE AT THE END by Adam Silvera <—– (full review) 5 stars
After reading one of his other books (More Happy Than Not) last year and struggling to connect with it, I never planned on picking this one up. But after seeing so many great reviews I decided to give him another shot. SO glad I did! This one hit my emotions from every direction and caught me off guard. I should have been prepared for this book…. the title says it all….. but there was no way for preparing myself for this book!

Mirrors and thorns

MIRRORS AND THORNS – an anthology <—– (full review)
I’ve never hidden the fact that I’m not usually a fan of short stories. But an opportunity presented itself to be a part of a blog tour for a fellow book blogger who had her story published in this anthology, so I decided to take a chance. This is the first time ever that I actually enjoyed short stories! Some of them were just so good that I was screaming out for more! So much talent within this bind up! If you’re a fan of short stories and dark fairy tales – THIS!

One dark throne

ONE DARK THRONE by Kendare Blake <—– (full review) 3.5 stars
I had been anticipating this book ever since I finished the first book, which left on a literal cliffhanger! Three Dark Crowns had an ending that shocked me and left such an impact on me! This one, I will say, was a bit better than book one. We learned more about the sisters, their abilities, and the politics behind the crown. I did still have a few issues with it – mainly to do with the pace and length – but it was still a solid and interesting read!

Renegades

RENEGADES by Marissa Meyer <—– (full review) 3.5 Stars
This one was one of my most anticipated reads of 2017 and I ended up having some mixed feelings about it. The things I didn’t think I would like ended up being the things I loved. I mean, it actually made me say that I love super hero books! I’m not a fan of super hero stories but this one was so well done! The issues I had were due to pace and balance between world/character building and plot momentum, but it was still a solid read. Her books seem to only get better as each sequel is released, so I have high hopes for the continuation of the series!

Wandering Star

WANDERING STAR by Romina Russell <—– (full review) 4.5 stars
And finally, I have a sequel that had been on my TBR for months! I finished Zodiac back in September and was absolutely blown away by the complexities of the story! I love anything astrological, but haven’t read a book that dealt so completely with the signs and turned them into an entire world! The beginning of this one was a little slow to start, but once it got going I was once again blown away by the plot and the characters! The characters seemed so much more dimensional in this one. I started book 3, Black Moon, immediately before I could get my head out of this world!

Arrow

Those are the 7 books I finished this month. I cross my fingers that I can read as much next month! How was your November? Find any new favourites?

Until next time, happy reading!
