Come on. Admit it. You’re a sucker for a good cover! We all are 🙂 A well designed book cover does a lot of things. It can create initial interest in the book because, well, it’s like eye candy. It can help us remember the book fondly because, well, we just like looking at it. And, because it’s just so beautiful, it can help create hype through Instagram because, well, we just like taking pictures of beautiful books! The good thing is that publishers know we fall prey to a good cover and they take advantage of it. And we love them for that! Here are 5 of my current favourites!
Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme where I explore different topics. If you are interested in participating I would love to have you! Here is a list of my Upcoming Topics in October – please remember to ping back a specific post of mine so I get a notification and I will add you to the participants list!
MY BEST FRIEND’S EXORCISM – Cover designed by Doogie Horner. Cover illustration by Hugh Fleming
If you’ve followed my blog at all over the last few months you will know that I’ve been obsessed with this cover since I first laid eyes on it. I’m a child of the 80’s who loves horror films so this one speaks to my heart in so many ways! The rainbow colours, the throw back to the “be kind please rewind” and old library stickers, the slasher film vibes – not to mention there are roller skates on the cover! I absolutely adore the distressed and vintage feel to the whole thing. This is probably going to stay my favourite cover ever! It’s going to be hard to beat!
WILD BEAUTY – Art director Rich Deas. Designer Danielle Mazzella
Stunning. Beautiful. Soft. Whimsical. So many words can be used to describe this cover but none will capture it properly in words. I’m not normally a big fan of flowery book covers but this one is pure perfection. It actually captures the theme and feel of the book perfectly as well. But just look at it! The colours, the plays on light, the font….. I’m crying happy tears!
VENGEANCE ROAD – Illustrated by Teagan White
This one runs a close second behind My Best Friends Exorcism. I bought this book as soon as it was released because it’s just so gorgeous! When I first saw the cover I was so captured by the colours and the font that I didn’t even realize that there were guns and skulls! I just thought that it was so beautiful and soft and then my second thought was woah! There are guns and stuff! This could be amazing!!! Sadly…….. I still haven’t read this book!! I hope to soon though. But it’s pretty to look at in the meantime 🙂
A THOUSAND PIECES OF YOU – Cover art by Craig Shields. Cover design by Elizabeth Woods
This is another great example of picking up a book because of the cover. I would have assumed from the title that it was some sort of sappy romance. But when you look at the gorgeous cover it makes you think twice. And by twice I mean that there are two sides to this illustration! We have the monotone and dark modern city with the flip side of that being colourful and bright architecture. What I probably love most about it is that it’s watercolour! I love anything watercolour!!
PASSENGER – Cover design Marci Senders
Apparently I have a thing for mirror image designs! Ever since I was a kid I was obsessed with pirate ships and messages in bottles (thank you Goonies), so naturally this spoke to me. I absolutely love the colours and the plays on light. The things that are bright seem to glow and the things that are dark feel like mist. And the font is just amazing!! Sadly I haven’t read this one either but once again, it looks good on my shelf!

October has been an amazing month and I am so happy to have seen so many participants!! Hope you can join in with me 🙂
Until next time, happy reading!

The Wild Beauty cover is sooooooo gorgeous and definitely one of the prettiest book covers EVER. My favourite book covers are the Shatter Me ones though! I might be a little biased because they’re my favourite books lol but they’re so aesthetically pleasing 😍

These are all absolutely gorgeous! I had the hardest time coming up with my book covers, so just decided to go with Series books. Maybe eventually I’ll go back and add single books. It took me almost two hours to finish my post for today because I couldn’t decide what I wanted to include! And now, reading all of these other posts, I keep thinking, “Dang, I could’ve used that one!”

Ha! I do that all the time! Think I’ve thought of everything and then I read someone else’s post and realize I forgot a really important one. Then I start smacking my head 😂

I haven’t read it yet….. I know, the shame!! Putting a book on a list when it hasn’t been read 😂 but I’ve heard some really amazing things about it

I’m not a fan of how the title is styled on Passenger, but the graphic is just incredible. Thousand Pieces of You also really jumps out at me.

It’s like a really bad form of subliminal messaging and one day I’m just going to wake up to see that I have requested it from the library and now I have to read it.

I am totall with you on My Best Friend’s Exorcism. I just finished that book and I was never happier than when I got to carry that book around in public. It’s just so cool looking – a real ice breaker.
I’d not seen Wild Beauty until just now, but it’s definitely beautiful too!
