Weekly wrap up – October 8 – 14

What a week! I ran non stop and now I am absolutely exhausted! I struggled to keep up with work and the house so that I would be able to do lots of fun things this weekend. Friday the 13th was a perfect night to visit a haunted attraction! Every year, it’s tradition for me, my dad, and my daughter to go to a place just outside of town where they have 3 big haunted houses and a haunted forest ride. It’s so much fun and the atmosphere is everything! Then yesterday I went with my parents and kids with some family friends and their grandkids to another attraction. There were rides, arcade games, a zoo, a restaurant and so much more. I dressed my 7 year old son in a neon green shirt and I STILL had a hard time keeping track of him! It’s not that it was busy it’s just that they move so fast! Now that I’m looking back I really don’t know how I found the time to read this week but thankfully I did 🙂 Here’s all the bookish things that happened:

THE TROOP by Nick Cutter <—– (full review) 3 stars
I finished this one early on in the week as I only had about 100 pages left to finish last Sunday night. This one was very atmospheric and creepy at times, but it wasn’t what I was expecting honestly. It was an ok read. Entertaining and interesting, but it wasn’t something that I’ll remember the fine details of.

HIDDEN BODIES by Caroline Kepnes <—– (full review) 4 stars
Like I said a hundred times since starting that book, I was so glad to be back in the head of Joe! Yes he’s a serial killer with very apparent mental issues, but he is just so damn likeable! And as twisted as his thoughts were I couldn’t help but laugh and agree sometimes. Really enjoyed this one!!

…….. apparently it’s King week! It by Stephen King and The Fireman by Stephen King’s son……. which please say that there are people out there that didn’t know that Joe Hill is Stephen Kings son. I had no clue! Different last name so I didn’t put the two together. But take a look at Joe Hill’s author picture and it will be pretty obvious! Sadly, i’ve fallen a bit behind on my reading schedule for It. I hope that I can maybe get the audiobook and catch up listening to it while I’m working.

This weeks topic was Top 5 Spooky Reads and there were so many great recommendations out there! I added a few to my spooky TBR which is awesome. I always have a goal to read more spooky books but never know where to start. Next week I’m taking a bit of a break from the spooky topics (not everyone’s cup of tea) and we will be talking about Top 5 favourite book covers!

I kind of went all over the place with my posts this week. I talked about everything from signed book collections – a discussion talking about book buying habits – and then I updated you all with my latest push to be more active on Bookstagram

So that was my week! I’ve been reading the books I had set aside for my October TBR a little faster than expected so I think I only have one more left! How are you doing with your TBR this month??

Until next time, happy reading!

I’m about to make your day. Had no clue Joe Hill was related to King in any way. I knew another son, Owen King, was putting out books. I think he did one together with dad, didn’t he?

    1. Not sure. I’m not a big King follower. I didn’t even know he had kids until last year 😂

My review schedule is a bit chaotic right now but Im going to have read two TBRs this month in addition to my review schedule. I guess that is better than not tackling my TBR pile at all lol

So far so good on my TBR and you remind me so much of my boss at work. Don’t worry, it’s a compliment because she’s always running since she has 2 kids.

I really want to read King again. My first read was for my freshman lite class but I have yet to pick him up again. I’ve heard awesome things about Pet Semetary so I’ll probably read that one whenever I decide to pick up another haha.

    1. Yes – always running!
I want to read Pet Semetary the next time I pick up King. I’m not a fan of his long winded detailed writing though. I find myself getting bored and wondering when it’s going to end

Even though you had a busy week, it sounded really fun! I love going to haunted houses and hayrides! I bet a lot of people didn’t know he was related to King, I know I didn’t but I also know nothing about the man himself, so…

    1. This weekend was so much fun! We have quite a few traditions that are always in the fall so it’s a busy time 🙂 then winter comes and BLAH!

I had a Joe Hill book on my TBR list for awhile before I found out he was King’s son. And I just found that out a couple of weeks ago!

    1. Yay so it wasn’t just me who didn’t know! Lol. He writes like him too….. very long winded 😂 but I find that his writing is a little bit easier to get into and read quick
