This week was just weird.
I had some really great days and some really bad days. My anxiety tried to grab ahold of me this weekend but I managed to turn it around use my anxiety and frustration as motivation and got something done in the house that I’ve wanted to do for years. So, baby steps. I also started a new bullet journal that isn’t just for book related stuff. I desperately needed something that I could write down both book related and personal things all in one spot and try to schedule them together. It’s working out really well so far! I’m getting a lot more done in my personal life because I’m not trying to remember what I had to do. I’m also not rushing around as much because things are getting done ahead of time. I will be doing an updated bullet journal post within the next couple weeks 🙂
BOOKS I’VE FINISHED THIS WEEK:
THE FIREMAN by Joe Hill <—– (full review) 3.5 stars
I broke my two books in a week streak – in my defence this was over 750 pages so another book wasn’t happening this week. I’m just proud I managed to finish it in a week! As big as this book was it was a really quick read. It was enjoyable and the human reaction to a deadly worldwide disease was terrifying! It was just so long and detailed though! If it was condensed by a couple hundred pages it could have been great! But all the same, it was really good and entertaining!
BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:
Soooooo…… I’ve completely fallen off the It reading schedule. I have read some more but I’m still a little behind. I really need to push just a little more and get caught up.
But Final Girls is finally happening! After practically being yelled at by a few bloggers, I’m finally picking this one up. I’m about 75 pages or so into it and it’s ok so far. I’m enjoying it but it hasn’t gotten too far into everything. She has PTSD and has forgotten the details of what happened to her on the night of the murders so there’s not a lot of details for me to grasp and be afraid of. There’s just a lot of suspense right now and I need action and detail. It’s still early though so I have hope.
OTHER BOOKISH NEWS:
TOP 5 TUESDAY
This week I took a bit of a break from the spooky topics and went with the Top 5 favourite book covers – I absolutely loved reading everyones answers! There were so many that I’d never seen or heard of before and my TBR grew just a little. Thanks again to everyone for participating! I still can’t believe that this turned into something that other people are actually participating in! It’s a bit surreal to me. Keep an eye out this Tuesday as I will be announcing the topics for November 🙂
OTHER FEATURES
Well this week I was FINALLY able to come back to a couple of my favourite features! First we had the 11th edition of Blogger Spotlight – there are 5 more amazing bloggers for you to follow! And then If you like this then….. you’ll like this! Where I feature two books that have similar qualities so you can find something else you’ll enjoy. This week featured A Glass Castle and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. These are 2 of my all time favourite reads. They were so emotional and so well written. If you read and liked one of these then I KNOW you’ll like the other!!
RAINY DAY READS
My Rainy Day Reads post this week was a list minute choice and one that I absolutely loved doing! People agreed and also recommended theirs. My list was so long that I will probably do another updated rainy day reads list in the spring!
So that was my weird week. There was so much more in my personal life and struggles I could have written about but, honestly, the post would have been about 5,000 words long and no one wants that! I’m pushing through and that’s all that matters! I hope you all had an amazing week!!!
OOOHHH!! And I almost forgot!! I’m just 60 followers away from a big international giveaway!!!!!!! I can’t believe that i’m that close to 1,000. The day I see that number I may cry….. ok I’ll totally cry. This blog has been so much to me and I can’t wait to give back!!!
Until next time, happy reading!
I’m curious to see what you think of Final Girls. I’ve read a few mixed reviews for it, but I really enjoyed it overall. That’s great you were able to knock out The Fireman this week too. I keep seeing how big it and passing it by. Maybe I’ll rethink that now after hearing it’s actually a pretty quick read. Hope you have a great week!

I’ve heard mixed reviews of Final Girls too. I’m not hooked yet and that worries me. It’s still early though. Yes the Fireman reads way faster than I ever would have thought.

I can’t wait to hear what you think of It! I’ve never read a Stephen King book before. With all the hype around it and the movie, I’m considering it though.

I’m not the biggest fan. He’s very detailed and long winded but the story as a whole is always good

Oh, no!!! I’ve heard people say that about him before.

Anything Stephen King always has a good core, an entertaining read with lots of twists, but they’re definitely something you can take your time with. But then again some LOVE him and can devour it quickly. It’s all a personal thing. I do hope you give it a go though 🙂

I’m so excited that you are close to 1,000!! That’s amazing! I also really would like to hear your bullet journal update. I was so intrigued by yours the first time and am planning to make my own, so I’d love to hear what had worked for you and not, plus how you plan to combine your personal and bookish things. (I was debating about having just a bookish bullet journal, or including everything.)

I’m such a busy person so if I don’t write things down for work, the kids, and the house I’ll forget and rush. I’m all caught up on my layouts for October and November and working on December now. Maybe I’ll do a small post for my October bits and do a more in depth one as I work on it. It could maybe be a new feature! It’s helped SOOOO Much so far!
