Top 5 Cute Romances!

I’m back!!! The last two weeks I went on hiatus for my mental health and, to be honest, it was the best thing I could have done! I’m not quite back to 100% but I feel more normal than i’ve felt since the beginning of March so I’ll take it! I’m going to go into more detail about it tomorrow in my April wrap up but for now, we’re here to talk about cute romances! Romance is a genre that you either love or hate. It could be a steamy one, a cutesy YA contemporary…. really any genre has a romance when you think about it. But I’m wanting to focus on the sickly sweet Rom-Com types today, which have seemed to be the genre that has saved my sanity since this whole isolation bull shit started. I’ve really appreciated the escape it’s given me with all the drama, relationships, and swoon worthy couples. Here are my most recent top 5 cute romances:

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme where I explore different topics. If you are interested in participating I would love to have you! Here is a list of my Upcoming Topics in May – please remember to ping back a specific post of mine so I get a notification and I will add you to the participants list!

Well Met

WELL MET BY JEN DELUCA

A strong girl with goals for the future that meets an equally strong teacher who also happens to run the local renaissance faire….. what get’s cuter than that?! I didn’t read too much into the synopsis before diving into this one…… it had me at renaissance faire…. but this book was everything I hoped it would be! There was snappy and pissed off banter that slowly moved into a relationship as they learned more about each other. And the setting was perfection!

Beard science

BEARD SCIENCE (Winston brothers book 3) BY PENNY REID

If you’ve been around this blog over the last 2 months then you might have seen that I marathon’d the first three books in this series. They were all just SO good! They were full of sass, spice, humour and steam, while also being adorable (not nauseatingly so) and sweet. Though I loved the first book, it’s book 3 that captured my heart – all because this was Cletus’s book! He’s easily the best character in the series and it was nice to see this sweet and gushy side of him! This one also seemed to be more about finding love AND finding yourself whereas the first two were pure steam. This one was nice, slow and sweet.

A duke by default

A DUKE BY DEFAULT (Reluctant Royals book 2) BY ALYSSA COLE

I found this series last year (or was it the year before??) and this was kind of the starting point of my newfound love of romance novels. I liked the first book but the second book was even better. It’s kind of ridiculous that these women keep tripping on royal men more frequently than they trip over their own feet BUT it’s an easy thing to set aside. These books are adorable and I love the characters. This one showcased a sassy rugged Scottish hottie….. count me in!

In bed with the beast

IN BED WITH THE BEAST (Naughty Princess Club book 2) BY TARA SIVEC

Tara Sivec is probably my absolute favourite romance author! I LOVE her characters with every fibre of my being! She finds a way to showcase so many different personalities with her characters and have them balance their strengths and weaknesses. Where one might be shy, the other is shockingly outgoing. This is definitely the case with Belle in book two of the series. She’s the shy one who needs coaxing to come out of her shell. She shines in this book!!

the trouble with hating you

THE TROUBLE WITH HATING YOU BY SANJI PATEL

In all fairness, this book probably shouldn’t have made the list…. I’m only about 50 pages in lol. But I can assure you that this book was love at first chapter! It’s SO DIFFICULT for an author to capture your attention immediately like this book did. I love the characters, there’s so many hints as to troubled pasts and family dynamics that create layers and possible consequences for the future. And the father of the main character…… WHAT A FLAMING ASSHOLE!!! In the first chapter I already hated him so much I wanted to kick him in the balls for being such a useless man! I’m dying to keep reading this one!!

Just like last week I will do what I can to keep the list updated as quickly as possible. I’m still trying to balance homeschooling, working from home, and all the other 5 million tasks that need my attention throughout the day.

All I can say is that, for someone who rarely read romance centred novels, the last year has definitely changed all that! I’m so thankful for their light (and sometimes thought provoking) story lines and tiny glimpses into other peoples lives and relationships. I will hopefully have an even bigger list for this next year! Do you have any books that would make this list?

Until next time, happy reading!

  3. Taking care of the mental health is important. I struggled a little bit with this week’s prompt as I haven’t read that many romance novels, but at least I managed to find five I could list. Here’s my list by the way; https://luktenavtrykksverte.blogspot.com/2020/05/top-five-tuesday-top-five-cute-romances.html

  10. Welcome back! So glad you are feeling better.

I love your list and have a question about Beard Science: should the books be read in order?

I wasn’t much of a romance reader, but have found that if you are picky, and pay attention to what others recommend, there are some great romance books to be read.

    1. I couldn’t agree more with needing recommendations with this genre. It’s so hard to find ones that suit your reading tastes because there are just SO MANY!

And to answer your question – yes and no 😂 you don’t HAVE to read them all but I would HIGHLY suggest it. This is a family of brothers and each book follows a different brother. If you read them out of order you may miss out on some back story and won’t understand side jokes
