Weekly Wrap Up – March 9 – 15

The hiatus this week was NOT intended! First of all I want to apologize for being completely absent for Top 5 Tuesday. Tuesday was a day, let me tell you! Kids were late to school and then work came up and bit me in the ass. It was really productive though! We managed to ship out all open orders in a single day! There were 7 orders total and the weight of the shipment was almost 200 pounds. On top of that, the store we own needed to have all the stock switched over for the spring/summer season. I was working on average about 16 hours a day.

Then shit hit the fan….. you would think it was literal shit since the entire world went nuts and started buying all the toilet paper! LOL! Never in my life did I think I would see a pandemic like this. I was a teenager when SARS hit and I thought that was crazy enough. But this – this is on a whole new level! I live in a really small town in SW Ontario Canada and things are pretty chill. But when I went to the grocery store the night they announced schools were closed for 3 weeks it was insanity! The lines were insane and every cart had toilet paper and bottles of water. I was so confused! I was at the check out with my butter and cucumbers (Yes, I realize that was a weird combination and I was more than likely judged by the cashier). So with the insane work week and the insanity of a pandemic, this week didn’t turn out how I hoped it would.

BOOKS I FINISHED THIS WEEK:

……. Crickets are singing their song …….

yeah, so I didn’t finish a book this week…. It’s now March 15th and I’ve only read one book for the month of March. I was 5 books ahead of my Goodreads challenge and now I’m right on track. With everything that went on this week I couldn’t focus. I still read a few pages every day but not with as much gusto as I normally do.

BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:

Me, the self proclaimed book monogamist, is currently reading 3 books…… maybe the world really IS ending?! I don’t know who I am any more! The Republic of Thieves by Scott Lynch shows up on this list for yet another week….. don’t ask lol

I’m just past the halfway mark of The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune and it’s really interesting so far! It’s a bit slow (which isn’t helping my current mood) but it’s good. And I’m loving the writing style! I hope to finish this one really soon!!

And lastly, I picked up Grin and Beard It by Penny Reid this morning. I needed a light and funny pick me up – and this is fitting the bill! I LOVE the Winston brothers! And I very quickly fell for Jet! If some of these books don’t show up read in my next wrap up I invite you all to take me out back and shoot me!

IN OTHER NEWS…..

TOP 5 TUESDAY:

As I said in the beginning of this post, I sincerely apologize for being so late updating the list this week! Work was just insane and I was on a time limit for all of it. I hope that this week will be better now that we are all caught up. But then my kids are home from school so, no promises. This weeks topic was Authors from F – J and this coming weeks is the letters K, L, M, N, O. I have a feeling that the letter M won’t be a problem for anyone lol.

As with the rest of the world, the next few weeks will be interesting for us all. I already work from home so that’s not a change for me. But the kids being home and needing to head out to get supplies will be interesting. I’ve been stocking up on essential items for a few weeks when I saw them on sale. I was actually mad at myself a few weeks ago for spending so much money on buying multiples of things that I didn’t technically need……. now I’ve never been so glad that I did!

But this is something that us bookworms have been preparing for! We are more than happy to stay at home with our books and stay away from people! Introverts unite! This is our time! LOL! Stay safe everyone and enjoy time with your families!

Until next time, happy reading!

  1. Thanks for sharing your week. 🙂 Don’t feel too bad about not finishing anything bookwise. I had a week like that not too long ago, then the next week I read like four things.

I also was buying some supplies in bulk for when I move in May, but now the whole Coronavirus thing may force me to use some of my supplies. Turns out it’s pretty useful lol!

Coronavirus is crazy, people are crazy. I went to the supermarket here yesterday (UK) and there was nothing, literally nothing on the shelves. I’m starting to get really worried now! I also haven’t read anything in March!

  5. Yeah, it’s been an interesting week! I didn’t finish any books this week because I’m getting through a 750 page tome, but I should have it finished tomorrow. And with self-isolation the name of the game….well we live in interesting times!

  8. Ugh, I know – what has been up with this week? It’s not the virus that worries me but people. People make things sooo much worse. At least we finally have some direction from the UK government which is about time. It’s all working from home if we can! But people are treating it as though we’ve been locked up and the panic buying is ridiculous.

    1. My god the people are insane!! I never thought we would see a day where people would panic buy everything leaving nothing for others. I haven’t even gone to the grocery store in about a week. I know there’s nothing there!!

      1. I know, its so disappointing seeing the mass panic. There’s plenty for people as long as people don’t stockpile but the stockpiler’s are not getting that message apparently! I’m being very creative with leftovers!
