Weekly Wrap Up – October 21 – 27

After my epic reading week last week, I ended up taking things easy. I spent a lot of time playing mindless games and watching YouTube videos…. and it was bliss! LOL! Sometimes your mind just needs a break. I did realize something this week though – I’m only 23 books away from reading 100 this year! I kept my Goodreads goal low for 2019. I didn’t want the stress and pressure to reach a high goal. I can’t even believe that I’ve read this much without even trying!! I’m not going to get my hopes up though. If I don’t reach triple digits, it’s not the end of the world. But if I find out that I’m getting close I might have to push a little harder to reach that goal! This week I finished one book and struggling to figure out what to read next. Let’s get to the wrap up!

BOOKS I FINISHED THIS WEEK:

Gideon the ninth

I’ve had this book for a few weeks now and the cover has been calling to me! I’ve heard some mixed reviews about this one – and now I know why……… but I DON’T know really! I liked this book, don’t get me wrong. But there was just something about it that didn’t work. I don’t know if it’s the fact that I was busy and possibly distracted, but something felt off or missing. But Gideon……. she’s my new bestie!! She was such an amazing character and I love her feisty and foul mouthed nature!! Review to come this week (aka – I hope I can piece together my thoughts by then!!)

BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:

I still haven’t decided what I’m going to read next. I usually only read one book at once, but I’m considering reading two at once. I might listen to the audiobook for THE SHINING by Stephen King (i’ve watched the movie a ton of times but haven’t read the book) and then physically read SORCERY OF THORNS by Margaret Rogerson. I’ve heard so many great things about Sorcery of Thorns so I can’t wait to see what all the fuss is about!

OTHER BOOKISH NEWS:

TOP 5 TUESDAY:

This week was a topic that’s close to my heart! Audiobooks! Some people love them, and some people can’t stand them, but they’re something that saves my sanity! I spend a lot of time listening to them as I work. My top 5 favourites can be found HERE, along with the participants! Tomorrow I will be posting the topics for November so stay tuned! This weeks topic is a ‘themed’ topic for Halloween – top 5 creepy atmospheres!

RAINCOAST WINTER/SPRING PREVIEW!!

Yesterday I took part in the winter/spring preview for Raincoast Books Canada! I absolutely LOVE when publishers hold these events! Lives get busy and it’s hard to keep up with all the books that are being released. When publishers hold these events you not only hear about the coming releases, but you get to hear what they’re about and feel their excitement! I couldn’t attend physically as this took place on the other side of the country, so I watched online through a live stream. A huge THANK YOU to Raincoast Books Canada for the swag bag package they so generously sent to me!! I will be doing a post this week showcasing some of the new releases that i’m excited for 🙂

That was my week! The coming week is going to be a little crazy. My dad is retiring on Tuesday!!! After close to 30 years with the fire department, he will be working his last shift. It’s going to be bittersweet. He’s worked for so long – it’s going to be weird for him not to have a job he has to go to! He’s also leaving his brotherhood. Everyone he works with is like family. They’re not coworkers. I’m going to be a mess lol!!

Until next time, happy reading!
