That’s right bookworms, I went book shopping for the first time in 17 months. OK, well, that’s sort of a lie. I’ve purchased books online in the past few months, but this is the first time that i’ve physically stepped into a book store since January of 2020. That was back when the word “pandemic” was only something that was within the pages of the books we read. That was when the words “lockdown” and “quarantine” weren’t in our daily vocabulary. But, here we are. How things have changed lol.
Due to all of the lockdowns here in Ontario Canada AND due to the fact that my 11 year old son is VERY high risk, i’ve stayed away from book stores all together. If my son catches even a normal cough we’re in and out of hospitals to get breathing treatments and all that. It was just too dangerous. But now that vaccinations have rolled out and cases are dropping daily, it was finally time for me to step into the light and buy some damn books!
And that’s just what I did! I went looking to see if there were any locally owned book stores around me and I was directed to a place called The Book Keeper in Sarnia Ontario. Sarnia is right on the Canada/US border and not all too far from me. It was well worth the drive!

I was in there for over an hour. I swear the girls working there must have thought I was absolutely insane as I walked around the store 5 times looking at the same shit over and over again. I had seen it all, I knew it was there, and I was looking at it repeatedly, but it was just so nice to be surrounded by all of it! And, it was SSOOOOOO hard to decide! I wanted it all! The girls were probably saying to themselves “Is she ever going to leave?” The answer is no and you can’t make me!

This is the haul! NAMESAKE by Adrienne Young is one that i’ve been trying to get since it was released but it kept selling out. MALIBU RISING by Taylor Jenkins Reid was a must buy as I’ve loved literally every one of her books so far! ONE LAST STOP by Casey McQuiston was also an auto buy… Red, White and Royal Blue was such a damn good book that I had to get this one to see how it compares lol. And then there’s NEVER LET ME GO by Kazuo Ishiguro which is a book that has been recommended to me so many times I’ve lost count!
Those socks guys…… I need that on a t-shirt! I love them so much! And, of course, I had to get a sticker for my new favourite place on earth lol.
I hope that this is just the first of many trips to this book store…… i’m kind of glad it’s a little ways away….. if this was in my town I would have to set up a mattress and just live there lol!
Until next time, happy reading!
I haven’t been inside a bookstore since March 2020…and I’m having withdrawals…
