Top 5 “Worst Rulers”

Why is it that the worst of people seem to be the ones that get to rule the world? Especially if you’re a fantasy reader, there’s always an evil mastermind calling the shots. Then there’s the “obvious better choice” who leads a rebellion to overthrow the throne. Sound familiar? Since there are so many controlling ass hats in books, there were a lot to choose from lol. But here are 5 of the worst rules that I can think of…..

THE MASTER – Down Among The Sticks And Bones by Seanan McGuire

Even the name “Master” makes me want to kick this guy right in the balls. Though, since he’s a vampire, I doubt that a nut shot would do any damage….. but it sure would make me feel better lol. Super controlling and wanting to rule by fear, this terrible vampire ruler made me so angry!! He reminded me a lot of a 4 year old ready to throw a tantrum if he didn’t get what he wanted.

PRESIDENT SNOW – The Hunger Games trilogy  by Suzanne Collins

Dear old President Snow – master manipulator and, with the right resources, could convince almost anyone to drink the koolaid. It seems that if you give some of your people everything that they could want while you let the rest of your population so busy working themselves to death, you can rule without issue.

AMARANTHA – A Court of Thorns And Roses series by Sarah J Maas

If you want to talk about someone who rules with fear…. look no further. This woman was ruthless as all hell! Brutal and unapologetic, this woman instilled terror in the strongest of “men”. The things she was able to do was just awful and disgusting! Torture in ways you can’t even imagine…. she makes me shiver!

QUEEN LEVANA – The Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer

Now this woman makes the list for a totally different reason from the first 3. Yes, she was a manipulator. She actually manipulated people on multiple planets simultaneously actually. But the fact that she essentially created a pack of hybrid changed wolves to be her army? Girl, you’ve got issues!!

KING JOFFREY – A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

I saved the best (or in this case worst) for last….. the little piss ant known as King Joffrey. This little shit is hands down the worst ruler i’ve ever read in a book! He was a twisted monster to begin with but then he got power…. no one could keep him in line. Spoiler alert with my next comment (you’ve been warned)……… he definitely deserved a worse death than he got! Something along the lines of hours long torture and a whole lot of pain…..
