Weekly Wrap Up – March 23 – 29

At the beginning of the week I vowed that when I wrote this post it would be 100% positive…….. throw that shit out the window….. because “what a year this week has been.” I feel awful for venting about my own struggles when literally every one in the world is impacted by this virus right now. I really need to vent though and hopefully this coming week I can put all this behind me. This week (for me) was brought to you by the letters M, U, and B…..

M – Missing my parents so completely. This isolation bullshit would be better if I could just see them and hug them. But my mom has MS and this virus could be seriously dangerous.
U – Unemployed. Yup. Due to shortage of work and my kids being home from school indefinitely, I filed for unemployment this week. First time in my life. The stress is real.
B – Being woken up at 4:30am on sunday by a strange and loud noise. Apparently that noise was someone trying to Break down our front door and Break into our house. They didn’t succeed, we are all ok, and nothing was stolen. But to say that it was unsettling is an understatement. Just knowing that someone was trying to force their way into my home give me goosebumps. Luckily we have an alarm system and we’re not setting it every single night.

I wish that this week was brought to you by the letter R for reading but the stress has gotten to my head and I haven’t been able to focus. Like I said, going into a new week, I’m  really hoping to put all of this behind me and just look to the positives in every day.

BOOKS I FINISHED THIS WEEK:

The city we became

The book I finished this week is THE CITY WE BECAME by N.K. Jemisin – and what a way to introduce myself to this author! This was like an urban fantasy/science fiction deal and it was really interesting! I have to say that her writing style is really unique. You spend the first 75% of the book asking yourself what the hell is happening and then BAM! it suddenly hits you and you’re blown away! This was described as a love letter to New York by a lot of people and now I understand. Now I can’t wait to read more from her!

BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:

House of earth and blood

New SJM!! I feel like this is perfect timing – while also being awful timing lol. I know that I need this book in my life. It’s going to be the perfect distraction. But i’ve forced myself to take it slow. Because I’ve been so stressed out and struggling to focus, I know that I won’t enjoy it as much. So i’ve been taking it slow and only reading when my head is clear. I want to enjoy this as much as possible and forcing myself to read when I won’t comprehend it as much as I should is just a bad idea. I’m working my way through this and will hopefully finish it soon!

OTHER BOOKISH NEWS:

TOP 5 TUESDAY:

This was week 4 in the alphabet authors series and we featured Authors with the letters P, Q, R, S and T. Only one week left and it’s going to be the hardest one yet! Whenever I don’t have an author for a particular letter I show you a picture of my dog….. you might be seeing my dog a lot this week lol. Also, tomorrow I’ll be releasing the topics for April. Hope you like them!

Today I woke up and it was a rainy and gloomy day. As I finish writing this post the sun is shining bright and it’s actually really nice outside! Perfect timing for me to switch gears and focus on the positive things and have a better week. I hope you’re all safe and healthy and getting lots of extra reading time!

Until next time, happy reading!

Waking up to somebody trying to break into your house sounds positively terrifying. I’m glad you are okay and that nothing was stolen. Did they break anything?
I’m gonna still prepare some stuff for next week, food and blogposts but I’m actually not really looking forward to the next week. At the moment everything is somehow running on the highest gear and still everything seems so unreal.
I wish you the best next week. We’ll get through it. ❤

Wow what a week.. I really hope the next one will be a bit brighter!
I totally feel you on missing your parents, we don’t live in the same country and I was supposed to go visit them for easter, but that’s not happening anymore.. Which probably means I won’t see them for another two months.. (assuming everything is better then)
I’m planning to start House of earth and blood next week, and I’m so excited!

  10. Never feel bad about venting though, it helps to get things out there. Yeah, we’re all going through things but we can support each other too so if things are tough don’t be afraid to say so. Hope this week wasn’t too bad for you, Shanah. ❤

Woah, Shanah what a shitty week! I think sharing the bad stuff and the good is healthy, we all need to vent – especially at the moment. 😦 Sending you {{hugs}} and hopefully next week is better. 💜
