Top 5 Tuesday – Authors from K to O

Facing a quarantine?? Let’s be honest – if you’re reading this blog then, chances are, you’re a bookworm just like me. We’ve been preparing for this shit our whole lives!!! Social distancing? No problem – we don’t like people. We love people actually…. just not in face to face interactions. Stay home for long periods of time? Did you have to ask? We’re introverts! We wanted to do that anyway! Luckily we’ve got hoards of books on our never ending TBR piles that are begging to be read – and now is that time!!! So, let’s take a minute to talk about the authors of the world. Those wonderful humans who are currently saving our asses and sanity and have provided us with hours of entertainment and adventure!

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme where I explore different topics. If you are interested in participating I would love to have you! Here is a list of my Upcoming topics in March – please remember to ping back a specific post of mine so I get a notification and I will add you to the participants list!

The letter K might be my favourite letter of the alphabet! Only because it represents Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman! Both amazing writers in their own right BUT, when you put these two together, magical things happen!! If you’ve been around the blog for any length of time then you would be expecting this one lol. I hold Jay Kristoff on a God like pedestal!

The letter L stands for Fonda Lee (Jade City) who’s debut had me captivated from beginning to end! It felt so fresh and new! There’s also Scott Lynch (The Lies of Locke Lamora) who’s Gentleman Bastards series is one of my favourite fantasy series! The heists and brilliance of these books is mind blowing! And then we have Melissa Landers (Starflight) who’s Starflight series was just so much damn fun to read!

The letter M is a big one! It was REALLY hard to just choose 3! I think I had about 10 chosen initially lol. But we have Sarah J Maas (Throne of Glass, ACOTAR) who’s books are just so much fun and take me away from reality! Then there’s Erin Morgenstern (The Night Circus) who’s writing style needs to be a pool that I can soak myself in! And Seanan McGuire (Every Heart A Doorway) who last year quickly made her way to the top of my favourite female authors list! Her writing style, worlds, characters…. she’s glorious!

sleeping-giants

The letter N was slim with it’s choices (especially compared to M!) but luckily we have a FANTASTIC author Sylvain Neuvel (Sleeping Giants) who is also Canadian and has the best full cast audiobook i’ve ever listened to. This series was so unique!

1984

The letter O is for a classic? You’re totally wondering what’s wrong with me right now, aren’t you? George Orwell (1984) was so ahead of his time! He was so fearless in his writing and literally the only classic i’ve rated 5 stars lol

Literally as I was finishing up this post this morning – things changed. It was announced that our province is under a state of emergency and things were ordered to shut down. I would have had this posted on time but I was scrambling a bit to see what this meant for our businesses. Times are tough…. Stay safe and healthy everyone! I will do my best throughout the day to update the list but, the way things are going, it’s going to be difficult lol. I think that’s just our new normal.

Until next time, happy reading!
