Weekly Wrap Up – Feb 24 – Mar 1

……. yeah, so, that week went well…… Send help! LOL! Last week I read 3 books and it felt effortless. This week I couldn’t even finish a single book! I got overwhelmed with life, work and my emotions, and completely lost focus. I spent hours staring mindlessly at my phone, wasting away any time I had to read. I just couldn’t stay focused! Thankfully this isn’t the feeling of a reading slump – I still read a bit every day – this is just a case of life taking over and letting my emotions (and anxiety) control every part of my life. As much as I didn’t want to, I took a few days away from the blog and social media to let my mind rest. I’m still behind on blog comments (seriously guys, the guilt is freaking killing me) but I’m feeling much better today. I make no promises for the coming week – but i’ll try 🙂

BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:

Yes, I started yet another chunky ass book – THE REPUBLIC OF THIEVES by Scott Lynch! I needed smartassery and hijinks in my life and Locke Lamora fits the bill! I’m just over 300 pages into this and it’s a little different from the first two. The first two were more about their heists and this one is more emotional and slow, but I totally don’t mind! We get interludes of Locke’s childhood and even the relationship between him and Sabetha!! FINALLY!! Next book I will pick up is an ARC I got from Raincoast books Canada – THE HOUSE IN THE CERULEAN SEA by TJ Klune. All I know is that it’s about secrets and an island where there’s an orphanage for magical children…. all I needed to know! I can’t wait to get to this!

OTHER BOOKISH NEWS:

TOP 5 TUESDAY:

This weeks topic was the Top 5 books that caused a major hangover and, to be honest, my list could have been about 20 books long! There are so many books out there that have captured my heart and emotions. This week we move into a whole new month of topics – the authors A to Z month! This is where each week we will list an author for every letter of the alphabet. For more info, find the Announcement post here!!

MARCH MADNESS – AKA THE MONTH THAT MY LIFE GOES TO HELL…..

That was an overly dramatic title for what I’m about to say but, at the same time, it’s also completely true lol! This is the busiest month for our business. We try to get ahead of production for our insanely busy spring season and, no matter how much we prep, we still end up behind. There are probably going to be a lot of 12-18 hour day this month which will mean less reading (unless I can get my focus back into audiobooks) and less free time to spend on the blog. I’ll probably have time to write posts but I can place bets that I will forever be behind on comments – if I have the chance to check or respond at all. I’m not trying to be an asshole, I promise. I’ll be playing this month by ear but I’m going to try and take care of myself and not push myself past the breaking point.

Not a lot happening this week – this was a post of me just apologizing for my shit mood and pre-apologizing for being an asshole in March. Who knows – maybe the blog will be my escape throughout the chaos. I can’t say what will happen yet! I hope you all had a great week and thanks in advance for not hating me lol

Until next time, happy reading!

These next couple weeks are going to be absolute hell for me, too, so I hear ya! Our biggest fundraiser of the year is March 15, and it is so much work…on top of my normal work. If I don’t have an anxiety attack in the next two weeks, it’ll be a miracle. 😂😑

It’s great to be able to post regularly and reply to comments, but sometimes life just gets in the way. At the end of the day, we’re all here to have fun, meet like-minded people and chat about the things we love – there’s no pressure for anyone to be perfect at keeping up with everything! x
