Weekly Wrap Up – Feb 3 – 9

Well this has been the most exciting week of reading i’ve had in a long ass time! I don’t honestly remember the last time I was this motivated to read!!! Partly because the books i’ve been reading have been blowing my mind – and partly because my real life feels a little stagnant so I’ve been losing myself in books. Mostly though – the first is true! I also found the book that I can bet will be my #1 favourite of the year….. and it’s only February! If something knocks this out of first place, it will be a damned miracle! There’s probably going to be a lot of excited profanity in this post so, if swearing isn’t your jam, you might not want to continue lol.

Foundryside RD4 clean flat

Bring on the excited profanity….. holy fucking shit!!! This book. THIS BOOK!! I can’t even explain my undying love for this book! I knew I was going to like Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett. It had everything that I love in an epic fantasy. But – I was NOT prepared for the obsession that this book would suck me into! This book was fucking brilliant!! It was the fasted paced epic fantasy I’ve EVER read, a unique magic system, great characters, high action, plot twists….. and that writing though!! This book will end up my favourite of the year – i’m calling that now! It might even be my new favourite book of all time! Those are big words for a bookworm, I know, but seriously – this book was absolutely amazing!!! I’ve been trying all week to put my thoughts together to form a review and all I want to say is “AHHHHHHHHHH!” Now I want to read everything this man has ever written!

I’m about halfway through the audiobook for The Shining by Stephen King and I’m really enjoying it. The book started off pretty close to the movie but now it’s starting to differ a bit – and not in a bad way. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the movie and I’m really liking the book. I’ll hopefully finish it soon. I’m also reading (physically) Wanderers by Chuck Wendig…… and what kind of fuckery is this?! This book is insane! Comets, diseases, zombie like humans who are walking to god knows where……… so many questions!!! This book has my head spinning a mile a minute! We have these people who are in a zombie like state and walking in a “flock” with purpose. Where are they going? No one can figure that out. But the theories as to why this is happening is overwhelming my brain. I’m trying so hard to draw conclusions from all of the small facts and figure out how all of these stories come together. I’m about halfway through this one as well and reading as fast as possible to figure out what’s happening!! This is my first Chuck Wendig and I’m really loving it!

This weeks topic was all about the Top 5 books that didn’t meet expectations. I love all the interpretations of this topic!! It has come to my attention that there’s been issues with me getting notifications though. Some people are saying they pinged me but I never got notified. I’m also strangely getting notifications from MONTHS ago that I never saw…… and they’re showing up as if they were posted recently! I can’t tell you what’s happening! WordPress is weird sometimes. SO – if you notice that I’m not adding you please understand that it’s not because I’m ignoring you!! I’m just not getting notified. If I missed you, send me a comment with your link and I’ll add you as soon as I can! This weeks topic is one that I’m really excited for! The top 5 books that exceeded expectations!!

Not that anyone was requesting an update, but I gave you one anyway lol! I realized that my first post about signed books was all the way back in 2017…… oops! I figured since we’re now in 2020 I could probably update that lol. So here is part 2!

That was my week – so many great books!!! Not a whole lot has been happening around here other than reading. I’m kind of missing the excitement of blog tours, new books, events….. but at the same time, the slowness is allowing me to read like a machine! So I don’t mind in the long run 🙂

I hope that everyone had a great week!!!

Until next time, happy reading!

  2. Stop it!!!! You just made me add 2 books to my TBR – when am I going to find the time!!!! Foundryside sounds like a must read. And I like Chuck wendig, but never read Wanderes so I’m going to try and fit that one in too. Also, I use Feedly to follow blogs – cannot rely on WordPress notifications.
