February 2020 TBR

I read 6 out of the 7 books on my January TBR and I started the 7th. Starting the year off right! Not sure the same will be said about this TBR though. As you will soon see, my motivation might be bigger than I can handle! I’m still in the mood to read ALL the books! Especially long ones that I can fall into. I guess that’s how this TBR ended up being  9 books long……. oops! Let’s just hope that I can keep up!!

The first two books on my TBR are books that I’ve already started and just need to finish. I am SOOOO close to finishing Midnight In Chernobyl by Adam Higginbotham and it’s so good! Probably the best time I’ve had reading a non fiction – as in ever! I think I’m going to knock this one out tonight or tomorrow. And then there’s The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E Harrow. I’m trying guys, I really am. The hype surrounding this book is so thick I can taste it. But I’m bored as shit. So this month I’ll either finish it or DNF for good. I’m around 100 pages in and not convinced. I might give it two more chapters before I decide. You’ll have to find out in my wrap up!

One of my hopes for 2020 was to knock off a few more unread Stephen King, so I’m starting with The Shining! I’ve seen the movie and love it but I’ve been told that the book is a million times better. I can’t wait to compare the two experiences! Next – she’s a chunky bitch but I am so pumped up to read this! And that’s Wanderers by Chuck Wendig. So many people said that they were excited to read it but I haven’t seen to many people actually get to it. I NEED to know what happens!

It wouldn’t be the month of love if I didn’t read some romance, right? I plan on satisfying that with Well Met by Jen Deluca. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it and that cover is adorable! Next I have a book that I absolutely planned on reading in 2019 because VAMPIRES and that’s The Beautiful by Renèe Ahdieh. Mixed reviews are everywhere for this one but I have high hopes that i’m going to love it!!!

OOHHH!!! This wasn’t planned but DAMN! Look at those covers side by side!! Looking at these two together just solidified them as needing to be read this month! After the epic reading hangover that The Gutter Prayer produced, I really hope to get to the sequel – The Shadow Saint by Gareth Hanrahan. I haven’t stopped thinking of The Gutter Prayer since I read it. I need more!!! It’s a bit of a slower read so i’m a little nervous. Worth it though! Keeping on the fantasy side of things, Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett needs to happen this month! Another book I wanted to read in 2019 but got side tracked. So many people have flat out YELLED at me to read this, saying that it has me written all over it. It’s hopefully happening this month!

ready-player-one

You’re probably thinking to yourself “This bitch thinks that she’s into sci-fi yet she hasn’t read Ready Player One yet? Poser.” Well, guess what? I HAVE already read it so you can keep your judgement and side eye! LOL! As promised in my 2020 blogging and reading goals post, I’m doing a reread for every month. Last month was Come Tumbling Down by Seanan McGuire. This month – I let my son choose! He loves the movie so he insisted that the book I reread this month is Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I think I’ve read this one twice already, but I haven’t reread it since the movie came out. I wonder what it will be like to read this with some visuals as an aide?

Now that I’m looking at this list, I’m simultaneously excited to start flipping pages yet I’m also terrified enough to hide in the corner under a blanket fort…… I can’t decide. Maybe I’ll actually make a blanket fort in the corner and just read until March…… that’s not a half bad idea!!!

Until next time, happy reading!

  9. I think Ten Thousand Doors is one you either love or hate, it’s just so stylistic so I can see people being bored or turned off by it. I really loved it though. 🙂 Hope you have a great month, Shanah!
