November 2019 Wrap Up

I was really hoping to knock out a bunch of books this month – it’s been a while since I’ve hit double digits in one month. November wasn’t that month lol. Though, what I lacked in quantity, I more than made up for it in quality!! I only read 4 books this month……. my lowest number of the year…….. that was really painful to type…… One of those books was 5 stars and the other 3 were 4 stars. I LOVED each and every one of them!

Sorcery of thorns

SORCERY OF THORNS by Margaret Rogerson – 5 stars <—– click for full review
This book was so unexpected! The reviews were really good, and all of them said that it was a really good time – they were all right! Not mind blowing in its plot or characters – but an absolute blast of a reading experience! I love books that are just plain fun! I still need more Silas though……. let’s make that happen Margaret Rogerson?!

Recursion

RECURSION by Blake Crouch – 4 stars <—– click for full review
If you’re in the mood for a total mind F*#@ then this is the book for you!! The science was a little hard to follow at times but man this book was good! I would love to explain this book here but that’s really difficult in a small amount of time. Basically this deals with memories and “time travel” where you have the ability to go back to that memory and change the outcome. If you haven’t experienced a Blake Crouch book yet – you should!

Red seas under red skies

RED SEAS UNDER RED SKIES by Scott Lynch – 4.5 stars <—– click for full review
I really don’t know what took me so long to get to this sequel but, at the same time, I’m glad I waited. This book took FOREVER to read and is the reason why I only read 4 books this month. It was well worth it though! This series is one of my favourite fantasy series of all time! Like I’ve explained in the review – it’s Ocean’s Eleven meets Pirates of the Caribbean with Beyonce as Jack Sparrow lol.

The Diviners

THE DIVINERS by Libba Bray – 4 stars – review to come
Why oh why did I wait years to read this?! And why don’t I have an entire line up of books set in the 1920’s? I absolutely loved a book set in this decade and now I want all the books set in that time period! It wasn’t even close to as scary as people made it out to be though. It got a little creepy towards the end, but I wasn’t scared at all. I hope I don’t wait years to get to the sequel now lol!

That’s the end of the shortest monthly wrap up i’ve ever written! I don’t hold hopes that December will be any better. It’s going to be an insane month with work, kids being home on winter break, and then Christmas and new years…… I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT CHRISTMAS IS ONLY A FEW WEEKS AWAY!!! Where has the time gone?? I hope your month was everything you wanted it to be!

Until next time, happy reading!

  2. Blake Crouch really seems to be a hit or miss with most people ! I see more people loving it though, so it’s making me super curious of his books ! It’s the second book by him I hear of and I get more and more intrigued.

Same about the Diviners ! I have only read The Great Gatsby set in the 20’s and The Diviners seems like a book made for me !

    1. If I was to recommend which Blake Crouch to start with – it would be Dark Matter. That book was incredible!! My mom sent me texts at 3am freaking out about it….. she couldn’t stop reading!
