Leave Me Alone…. but only for 24 hours!

As you may have guessed from the title, I’ve decided that I am in desperate need for an entire day of reading! I’ve participated in a few readathon’s this year, but none of them have been a whole day dedicated to books. It’s just what the doctor ordered…… that doctor is me 🙂

Before I go into my impromptu readathon, here’s a tiny update. I may have mentioned a partial mental meltdown in my weekly wrap up – but I don’t think I really expressed how bad of a mental state I was in. It wasn’t good. Worst part of it all was that there was nothing that seemed to trigger it. Hard to fix something when you don’t know what’s broken. Shortly after that post went live I realized I was out of coffee. So off I go at the ass crack of dawn to Walmart to buy some. I get the sweet sweet coffee, go out to my car, and my tire was flat. Whomp whomp whomp. I held it together, I didn’t cry, and my hero of a father came to the rescue (sorry for ruining your breakfast plans!) That seemed to be the turning point in my week though!

Since then, things have been so much better! We put up our Christmas tree on Sunday, my kids have made me laugh to the point of tears more times than I can count, I’ve had lots of snuggles with my dog, and work has been epically productive! It’s meant a few 12 hour days, but damn things have gotten done at lightning speed!

All that in mind, I decided that I deserve a day off! The kids have a three day weekend so Thursday is the perfect day to say screw it to work! It means I have to work extra hard today…… but when there’s a book at the end of that tunnel it’s a little easier to make it through the day 🙂

I’m not sure when the readathon will start. I’m thinking around 10am. That will give me about an hour to get things in order after the kids are off to school. I fully plan to prep my couch and my coffee cup while wearing the most comfortable clothes I own! After supper I plan to go to the next town over and go to Starbucks for my first peppermint mocha of the season (though my husband isn’t aware of this plan yet! lol!)

If you’ve made it this far in the post (look at you go!) I suppose you wonder what I’ll be reading…….

Highest on my priority list are these two! I’ve already started both and I need to finish them RED SEAS UNDER RED SKIES by Scott Lynch is spectacular but also taking me forever to get through. It’s quite dense but his writing is all in the details. The font is also tiny so it takes longer than normal to read. I need to finish this one so badly! Next I hope to finish THE DIVINERS by Libba Bray. This book has been on my TBR for years (yes, the plural for years was intentional…) and I finally decided to start it. This is a super fast read and the font is huge so I have faith I can make it through this one really fast!

The starless sea

If by some small miracle I finish both of those, I hope to start this beauty! THE STARLESS SEA by Erin Morgenstern is one of my most anticipated for 2019! I have no clue what it’s about…… and I prefer it that way! I love her writing so much! I wasn’t expecting it to come in the mail so soon or else I wouldn’t have started anything else. This is the type of book that I want to dedicate all of my attention to! I also want to read it as soon as possible because I don’t want to be spoiled!

Want to follow me on this adventure? I will be posting updates to my Twitter and my Instagram throughout the day! I may even start a post on the blog and update it throughout the day so you can check back and see how things are going. I won’t be staying awake to read though – this girl loves sleep! But I am hoping to wake up early on Friday and read until my 10am deadline. Wish me luck!

Until next time, happy reading!
