Off The Grid Readathon Wrap Up!

This post is a bit of a two for one. I’m wrapping up the readathon (which ended up being my best readathon EVER!!) and also wrapping up the books I read while on hiatus. During the readathon I managed to read FOUR books for a total of 1,460 pages!!! It all had to do with the fact that my husband and son spent the whole weekend out fishing so I had the house to myself more than usual. I didn’t read a whole lot during my hiatus because of the wedding and then Vegas, so I was making up for lost time! This is going to be a long one, so get settled lol.

The first book that I finished was THE FOUNTAINS OF SILENCE by Ruta Sepetys – wow! This book was damn incredible! It wasn’t quite the tear jerker that Between Shades of Grey was, but it was still super emotional and one hell of a story. The characters in this book……. unparalleled. I loved each and every one of them and felt like I knew them inside and out. I can’t wait to gush about this fully in my review!

The next book I read was COME TUMBLING DOWN by Seanan McGuire. I got this in the mail about a week ago and tried so hard to hold on until closer to publication date. I couldn’t restrain myself! I have never hidden the fact that I HATED the second book in the series. I didn’t like the focus on Jack and Jill and I wasn’t too invested in the world. But, let me tell you, this book redeemed that completely! I loved this book! It was incredibly dark and emotional. I’ll be holding my review until the beginning of January though.

A DUKE BY DEFAULT by Alyssa Cole is a book I’ve been wanting to read for months but hadn’t gotten around to. There was always a reason why I couldn’t read it. A readathon was the perfect motivation to read it……. and now i’m wondering why the hell I waited so long!! I loved this book so much! It was everything that I needed in a book right now. It had great friendships, a slow and hesitant romance, adventure, and so much more. I liked this one even more than book 1!

Lastly, I finished THE GOBLET OF FIRE illustrated edition! OMG it was so beautiful! I love all the black pages or pages with full colour. There’s something about a page that’s not standard white with black lettering that soothes my soul. This has to be one of my favourite books in the series! So much happens and it’s the turning point where things really get serious.

TRAPEZE by Leigh Ansell <—– click for full review. I went into this expecting a story about a circus but this was more of a contemporary teenage drama. It was still a great story and I liked the writing style, but I really needed to separate myself from my expectations. Click the link for more thoughts.

NINTH HOUSE by Leigh Bardugo – my review for this one will be posted later on this week. I would have posted it sooner but I’ve been struggling to put my thoughts together! There are things that I loved, and things that I didn’t like so much, but it was a damn good book. Leigh Bardugo is DEFINITELY more suited to adult books!!!

ALL THE MISSING GIRLS by Megan Miranda <—– click for full review. It’s rare for me to come across a mystery that I actually like! This was one of them! It wasn’t perfect, and there were a few things that annoyed me a little, but, in the end, it’s a story that really stuck with me! I need more from this author!

Top 5 Tuesday comes back this week! Taking 2 weeks off for my hiatus was SO HARD! I walked around the house lost because I felt like I should be doing something lol. This weeks topic is top 5 audiobooks – I don’t know how i’ll choose!

I was considering doing a travel blog post about our trip to Vegas. We were only there for three nights and four days, but the amount of things we managed to fit into that trip is crazy! I took a ton of pictures and a few videos. If you would be interested, let me know and I can make it happen!

Whew! I didn’t realize just how many books I’ve read so far in the month of October! I thought this month would be a total bust because I was so busy!! Let’s hope that I can keep the momentum going!!

It’s going to take me a little while to get back into the swing of things. Jet lag kicked my ass this week and I haven’t really settled into the routine of daily life just yet. I will try to catch up to comments soon!

Until next time, happy reading!
