Weekly Wrap Up – August 19 – 25

This was a REALLY FANTASTIC bookish week!!!! Even though it was impossible for me to keep track of what day it was (seriously, I thought yesterday was Monday…) I managed to read two books this week!! Yesterday I had a kid free day (hello, miracle!) and I spent 6 hours relaxing by the fire in my backyard. I even read a book from start to finish while I as out there! It as pure bliss!!!!! And, as you’re reading this I’m in Toronto at Harper Collins for the HCC Frenzy Fall Preview! I’m looking forward to hearing about all the books that are coming soon – but i’m more looking forward to connecting with my fellow book worms! This means that I have to drive in downtown Toronto, by myself, for the first time ever……… pray for me! LOL!

The first book I read was THE KINGDOM by Jess Rothenberg. The cover and the idea of a dark Disney land was too appealing to refuse! This whole book takes place in an amusement park where your wildest dreams come true – but the truth behind the scenes is FAR darker than I imagined! I really enjoyed it! It had a few issues, but it’s a story i’ll remember for sure. Click HERE for my spoiler free review!

The second book I read was The Girl The Sea Gave Back by Adrienne Young. This is the sequel to The Sky In The Deep and takes place 10 years after the events in book one. This is the book that I read by the fire yesterday 🙂 I really struggled to get into it but when it finally got going I feel easily into her writing. I love her voice! I ended up rating it 3.75 stars. Review to come soon!

…….. Honestly, I don’t know what I’ll pick up yet! I’ll probably listen to an audiobook on the drive to and from Toronto but I haven’t chosen one yet. I’ve got MANY hours in the vehicle so, whatever I choose, I’ll probably make it through the whole thing round trip lol!

Like I mentioned above, I’m in Toronto right now at the fall preview event. I’ve been to a preview event before and it was INCREDIBLE!!!! Getting to hear first hand about all the new books coming out, connecting with other bloggers and bookworms, participating in games (I hope that I will be brave enough to participate this time lol), and so much more! I’ll be exhausted from travel so I won’t have the post about the event up right away. That will be scheduled for Wednesday 🙂 I can’t wait to share all the fun with you!!!

This week was a great topic that goes back a few years to the dystopian phase – Top 5 dystopians! I had a problem with adding participants though – my internet has been going down every day this week and for no reason at all. All of my posts were prewritten and went up like normal, but I couldn’t add people from my computer. I apologize for my participants for being late! This week is the top 5 books you don’t talk about enough!! I can’t wait! ALSO – the topics for September will be released first thing in the morning 🙂

I’ve decided that the only way to make it easier to post to social media is to actually do it! LOL! I always say that I’m going to do better with Twitter and Instagram and then I get sidetracked. So I’m starting with Instagram and I’m posting more frequently and putting more effort into posting. My mom gave me three HUGE bags full of flowers so I’ve got a lot to work with! Let me know if you see a difference 🙂

Now that I wrote this all out, this week was busier than I thought! I guess that’s a good thing. I hope you all had an amazing week full of reading and smiles 🙂

Until next time, happy reading!

  6. Oooh, I hope you had fun at HCC!! I didn’t realise The Girl the Sea Gave Back was the sequel to Sky in the Deep!! I’ve had that book on my TBR since it came out… but I guess this means I have to read it now!! (Is it just a duology?)

    1. I’m not sure if there are any more to the series. I heard people call it a spin-off but honestly, there was a lot of mentions of previous characters and plots so I don’t think it would make sense
