Weekly Wrap Up – I’m Back!

Wow….. it feels weird writing a post again! It’s been so long I almost forgot what it feels like to write! It hasn’t really been THAT long, but, over the last few days, I shut my mind off completely from the blog and work. It felt incredible!! I’m only guaranteed one day off a year (yes you’re reading that right….. I own two businesses…… days off just don’t happen) and that’s Christmas day. This year my husband and I decided it was finally time for us to be allowed to take a few days off 🙂 It really does need to happen more often! I didn’t remember how good it feels to step away and recharge! I think that we’re going to have to sit down and talk about working in some days off 🙂

BOOKS I’VE FINISHED THIS WEEK:

While I was away I read 2 books…… and these books only increased my love of Jay Kristoff by about a million!!! You didn’t think it was possible, did you? Honestly, neither did I!! Darkdawn was everything that I hoped and wanted it to be. I can’t even begin to explain to you the emotions I felt while reading that book! Something happens within the first 50 pages that absolutely blew my mind! I was reading beside my husband while we were on vacation and I bolted up and gasped – he was thoroughly convinced that there was something wrong! I was heartbroken yet my heart was whole. I was completely drained yet energized with battle and vengeance. And the more I sit and think about this book, the more I realize just how bloody brilliant this entire series is! I’m going to try and review it soon, but I need to piece together my thoughts, and try to find a way to review it without spoiling anything lol. The only thing I want to do is scream from the rooftops everything that happened!!

BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:

The Kingdom

I just started this one last night and, I have to say, I’m completely hooked! I’m just over 50 pages in and I’m loving the world – it’s a theme park! But think of a male’s dream/feminists nightmare Disney world…. These “characters” and their “rules” and functions is really interesting. I’m loving how detailed it all is – and I also need to figure out what’s going on…… because there’s a dead body…… lol

OTHER BOOKISH NEWS:

TOP 5 TUESDAY:

Missing top 5 Tuesday this week completely messed up my entire week! Have no fear – it’s back this week! And this week we will be talking about Top 5 Dystopian. A few years back, dystopians were all the rage. They were everywhere! But it’s been a hot minute since I’ve read one and would like to get back into it! This is a good place to start 🙂

BOOKSHELF TOUR SERIES STARTS THIS WEEK!!

I’m so excited for this!!! I’ve been prepping my pictures for the posts and I’ve been itching to get these out into the world! I have a picture in my mind of how I want these posts to go. I hope they turn out how I envision them. The series begins this Friday 🙂

Whew! My first post in 10 days is written and it feels so good to be back! I hope that I can jump right into the swing of things and don’t get behind. I really miss you all and miss our conversations. I enjoyed the break, but I’m glad to be back with my bookish family.

Until next time, happy reading!

Hearing you talk about Godsgrave and Darkdawn reminded me that I really need to get around to finishing Nevernight! I feel like I really need the time to focus on it though because I’m not used to reading books with footnotes! And welcome back, hope you had a lovely break!

    1. The footnotes threw me off too. I actually struggle to read Nevernight the First time. Once it gets going it gets easier. And the footnotes aren’t absolutely necessary to the story. They do help (actually now that I’m done with the series i realize just how much they offer the story)

Yeah, that’s why it’s taking me so long to get through it because I know those footnotes will be important by the end! It’s been quite a while since I’ve picked it up to read it so I think it’s about time I continue.

I felt the same way when I posted the other day. I too went on vacation and of course work was complete mayhem the week before and after. It felt like I hadn’t posted in months. It felt so good when I did.

    1. Honestly going on vacation is a lot of work before and after. It’s your way of paying for the time off lol

I did not enjoy Godsgrave as much as I did Nevernight, but I am looking forward to reading Darkdawn. It may be a while though!

    1. Godsgrave was a totally different feel from the first book. I only gave it 4 stars. I realize it was a necessary step for her to get where she needed to be, but the atmosphere was totally different. Darkdawn brings it all back together 🙂

Welcome back! I can’t imagine only having a day off per year 😮. You must get used to it, but it’s nice to hear you gave yourself a break! I’m curious to read what you think of The Kingdom—why is there a dead body? 😅

    1. I learned that regardless of customers getting angry, I need to make myself a priority too. More days off will be had from now on!
I’m about halfway through and I still don’t know why there’s a dead body! 😂 I know who it is, but not why or how. It’s good so far. I’ll probably have a review up this week or next 🙂
