Top 5 Books That Start With A-B-C-D-E

Happy Top 5 Tuesday everyone!! This is the first week of July’s “themed” topics where we will be making lists of books that start with corresponding letters. Each week, we will have 5 letters and you will list one book for each letter. Trust me ladies and gents… this is more difficult than I expected!!

I figured that this was the perfect opportunity to talk about some books that we don’t get to mention often. We all have our favourites that immediately come to mind. As much as we want to talk about those favourites, there are always books we really enjoy that get pushed aside for the favourites! Well, it’s time for them to be in the spotlight! For example; the letter N…. my first thought is Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. But I talk about it literally all the time! The books on my list are ones that I loved, but never seem to get mentioned as often. I also need to mention that I don’t consider A or THE to be the beginning of a title. This weeks letters are A-B-C-D-E. Here we go 🙂

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme where I explore different topics. If you are interested in participating I would love to have you! Here is a list of my Upcoming Topics in July – please remember to ping back a specific post of mine so I get a notification and I will add you to the participants list!

Artemis

A – ARTEMIS by Andy Weir
Andy Weir is more well known for his novel The Martian BUT – I think that I loved Artemis just as much! Some people didn’t enjoy the main character Jazz, but she was my type of girl!!! I absolutely loved her brutal honesty, her dark and dirty humour, her realistic nature, and her feisty strength. I absolutely loved this one and have been wanting to do a reread for the longest time!

Beneath the sugar sky

B – BENEATH THE SUGAR SKY by Seanan McGuire
I talk about the first book (Every Heart A Doorway) and the most recent book (In An Absent Dream) in this series so often, but I don’t mention this one as often as I should! The thing that I love most about this book is that we get to see so many of the different worlds that were mentioned in the first book! Some are dark, some are happy, some are twisted, and some just don’t make any sense at all. I actually feel that this is the most underrated book in the series!

city-of-thieves

C – CITY OF THIEVES by David Benioff
If you love historical fiction, particularly those centred around WWII, then this one is a MUST! Two men are in prison awaiting execution when they’re given a second chance at life. When the country is starving and food is beyond scarce, these men need to find a dozen eggs for a colonel’s daughters wedding cake. This is both funny and light along with terrifying and heart breaking. But the way this story is told will stick with you for a long time!

Divergent

D – DIVERGENT by Veronica Roth
As much as I hated (and I mean, REALLY HATED) the way that this series ended, I actually LOVED this first book. It was like nothing I’ve read before! And the factions throughout, with their personalities and tasks…. I wanted to soak in every detail of this book!

An ember in the ashes

E – AN EMBER IN THE ASHES by Sabaa Tahir
I went into this one expecting a good story, but nothing spectacular. But this book ended up blowing my mind both in plot and in writing! The world, the characters, the complexities…. god this was so good!

A little tip and trick for you – you can go to your Goodreads “Read” shelf and actually sort your books alphabetically!!! Just go into your read shelf and click on “Title” at the top. I hope that this saves you some time 🙂

Until next time, happy reading!

    1. I don’t consider a title that starts with THE or A (an) to be the official first letter. And apparently neither does goodreads when you sort alphabetically 😂
Will be adding you to the list very soon!

  9. Ooooh I love this topic! I loved it when I saw it on Sophie’s page but I like it even more that you want to feature books that usually are overshadowed by your normal favorites 😀 What a great idea!
