Weekly Wrap Up – June 24 – 30

Well hello there! Long time, no see! I was planning on coming back from my mini hiatus this week but, things ended up being busier than expected – but in a good way! My daughter graduated grade 8 and she was GORGEOUS, the last day of school for both kids, packing for my son’s 4 day camping trip, swimming in the pool, and so much more. By the end of each day I was too exhausted to sit down and write. The summer will be a busy one, and I’m not sure that I can blog daily like normal, but I feel like I’ve got the motivation to blog again. It’s a good feeling 🙂 I’ve got quite a bit to talk about today, so let’s jump on in:

BOOKS I FINISHED THIS WEEK:

I finished three books this week, and all of them were by Jay Kristoff……… so basically this was the most epic reading week ever! Lifel1k3 was a reread….. and I had totally forgotten how much I loved Lemon Fresh! Immediately after finishing that, my copy of Dev1at3 came in the mail – perfect timing! I finished it on Saturday and my review will be coming this week. Lastly I read Memento, which is a little short story that accompanies the Illuminae files (but it’s not even on Goodreads so I couldn’t mark it as read lol). This was a fun and quick read and more time with Aidan 🙂

BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:

I actually haven’t started anything yet – but these are the two that I’m considering. We talked about our favourite fantasy novels in this weeks top 5 Tuesday and it put me in the mood for some fantasy! I’ve been in a bit of a fantasy slump and I really hope that one of these can pull me out of it. I’ve heard nothing but AMAZING things about both of these……. so I don’t know how I’ll decide!! Which one should I read?? Convince me 🙂

OTHER BOOKISH NEWS:

TOP 5 TUESDAY

Like I just mentioned, this weeks topic was Top 5 fantasy – and it really put me in the mood to read the genre! There were so many amazing books mentioned 🙂 Also in Top 5 Tuesday news….. the TOPICS FOR JULY have been released! You all seem to be just as excited as I am for this month! It’s going to take some work, but I can’t wait for all of your lists!!!

OFF THE GRID READATHON!

That’s right ladies and gentleman….. the summer edition of the Off The Grid Readathon is almost here!!! It begins at 12:01am on Friday July 12 and ends at midnight on Sunday July 14. That’s 3 full days to read without distractions! For the full readathon details can be found HERE, but here are the basics:

  • The readathon times are within your own timezone – no need to make things complicated lol
  • You are NOT expected to read for the full 72 hours straight. The whole point of this is to set aside some time to read and DON’T get distracted by social media or television. This is practice to read when you want to read and not waste 80% of your reading time falling down the twitter hole LOL!! When you sit down and read, do only that – READ! Spend as little time as possible on your phones for the duration of the readathon!!!!!
  • We will be popping in on twitter to talk about our progress for the day, as well as sharing your beautiful pics on Instagram. But, remember – you’re supposed to be off the grid so don’t stay on these platforms for too long!!

That about covers it lol. There aren’t any challenges, sprints, or buddy reads. Just pick up what you want and read as much as possible 🙂

That was my week! Busy, crazy, chaotic, but fantastic. I think that July will be a great month! I’m so excited to spend time with my kids, playing in the pool and having backyard bon fires! I’m also going into July with a lot of reading and blogging motivation. I hope that July is the month I get my groove back!!! Hope you all had a great week!

Until next time, happy reading!

    1. I’m hoping that I pick up Middlegame after I finish Jade City. I need to know why everyone loves it so much! And YES – read Lifel1k3!!! It’s so good! Pay close attention to Lemon Fresh – she’s feisty and hilarious!

Oh my gosh. You are LIVING. Reading lots of Kristoff AND reading Middlegame and Jade City, both of which have “darker” undertones. You have excellent taste in books 😉
    Happy reading!!!

    1. Why thank you! If it’s a dark fantasy, my name is written on it! And reading them all back to back makes me happy!
Since you also seem to have similar tastes, have any recommendations?? 🙂

  5. Ha, I was annoyed when I couldn’t find Memento on Goodreads as well. Buuuuut, I have librarian status, so I’ll add it. You should be able to add it in a couple of hours!
