The Game of Thrones Book Tag!

This isn’t a new book tag BUT, since the series just wrapped up, I figured this was perfect timing! I’m a bit behind on the series (as in I haven’t seen the last 3 seasons so NO SPOILERS FOLKS!), but I started it over again from the beginning a few weeks ago. I just finished season 3 (that damn red wedding gets me every time!) and need to finish the series soon so I don’t get spoiled! Though…… let’s be honest…. after the negative reactions of how the series ended…… I’m not sure I want to finish it! LOL! Here is the tag:

HOUSE LANNISTER: HEAR ME ROAR – Name a book that you originally loved but, upon a reread, you realized that it wasn’t so great after all:

This is the only one that I don’t have an answer for! I rarely get the chance to reread books and I usually love them just as much, if not more, the second time around!

HOUSE STARK: WINTER IS COMING – Name your most anticipated read for the year:

Possibly the easiest question to answer! I NEED THIS BOOK! I know that DARKDAWN is going to break my heart into a million pieces. And I know that it’s going to make me want to fly across oceans to Australia to ask Jay Kristoff what the living hell he was thinking. But, break my heart sir……. I’m ready for it!

HOUSE TARGARYEN: FIRE AND BLOOD – Name a book that you felt completely slayed with fantastic characters, plot, pacing, etc.

At the stroke of midnight

There are so many books that I could mention for this question. But, for some reason, AT THE STROKE OF MIDNIGHT by Tara Sivec takes the cake! This was one of those books that I read SO QUICKLY but still remember everything that happened. This whole series was (and is) an obsession! The characters and their growth throughout these books is outstanding!!! The plot never ceases to amaze me and the pace never slows. This is one of my all time favourite series!

HOUSE BARATHEON: OURS IS THE FURY – Name a book that ended with a cliffhanger that genuinely pissed you off:

If I’m remembering my reactions correctly, I think that I was angry for a number of reasons after finishing A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES by Sarah J Maas. Mostly, I just needed to know what the hell was going on! There was so much happening and so much left unsaid at the end of this book! And I knew that I had to wait to read the second one…… luckily, it was worth the wait!

HOUSE MARTIAL: UNBOWED, UNBENT, UNBROKEN – Name a book or series that’s been on your TBR since the dawn of time:

UNWIND by Neal Shusterman has been on my TBR for YEARS!!! This is one of the first books that I picked up based on BookTube recommendations. Literally everyone talked about this series! And it sounds so good! Even now, years later, it’s still getting talked about. But have I read it yet?? NO. Why? Who knows……

HOUSE BOULTON: OUR BLADES ARE SHARP – Name the most graphic or disturbing book that you’ve ever read:

I wouldn’t say that this is the most graphic, but YOU by Caroline Kepnes is definitely one of the most disturbing! Told from the perspective of a charismatic young guy who also happens to be a stalker and murderer…. it was really creepy! He would be watching her as she went about her day and commenting that “you” did this. And “you” looked like this….. my skin crawls thinking about it! But the most disturbing thing…. I actually found myself rooting for him!!! What the hell is wrong with me?!?

HOUSE TYRELL: GROWING STRONG – Name a book or series that gets better and better with every reread:

I realize that the HARRY POTTER SERIES by J.K. Rowling is possibly the most basic answer I could give, but it’s also the most truthful! This series is just perfection! No matter how many times I read this series, I’m always finding things I didn’t find/remember before. The characters, the world, the plot….. it’s huge! And I find that as I grow older, I gravitate towards different things in the book. I really want to do a full series reread again!!! Too many books, too little time!

Flower divider

I won’t be tagging anyone as this is quite an old tag. But, if you love the show and haven’t done this tag before, consider yourself tagged!

Until next time, happy reading!

    1. I’ve read the first few books and they’re quite close to the show. But after the second book I’ve heard it’s quite different.

  2. Unwind had been on my TBR since the beginning of time, too, and I finally read it over Christmas. I can definitely say it lives up to the hype and is totally worth it! I hope you enjoy it when you get to it 🙂
