If this month doesn’t kick my reading slump…… I don’t know what will! There are SO MANY amazing books to get to this month! 2 are new releases, and the rest are ARC’s that i’m dying to get to! I also have another book tour date coming up at the end of the month. The last few months have been a struggle in more ways than I can count. My stats for March and April have proved that. I just hope that May is the month I get my groove back. Here’s a list of the books that will help me do just that!
NEW RELEASES I’LL BE READING:
Oh! Two purple covers! Don’t these two look amazing side by side?! The first book that I’ll be reading this month will be AURORA RISING by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff! In fact, my preordered copy released early and this one is coming in the mail TODAY!!!!!! I can’t wait! If Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman can’t kill this reading slump, I don’t know what will! This month is also the release of FINALE by Stephanie Garber! A series I’ve loved for a while now and we finally get to see how it ends! I’m both scared and excited lol!
ARC’S I’LL BE READING:
The first two ARC’s I’ll be reading are courtesy of Raincoast Books Canada (Tor Teen & Flatiron Books). DARK SHORES by Danielle L. Jensen is a book that completely captivated me by the cover, then finished luring me in with the synopsis. All I know is that there’s a female pirate, a soldier with a secret, and a dangerous quest….. all I needed to know! Next is BIRTHDAY by Meredith Russo, which I will be a part of the blog tour on May 21st! I’ve heard so much about this author but never read one of her books! This one ties two people together as they share the same birthday. They change over the years; they’ve fought, made up, drifted together, and drifted apart. But they always come back together some how.
The next two books I hope I’ll get the chance to get to towards the end of May. They’re both courtesy of Penguin Canada (Razorbill & Putnam), and I am so excited to get to them both!! First is THE HAUNTED by Danielle Vega. I’ve heard so much about this author before and this one is right up my alley! A young girl moves to a small town, expecting to lay low. Suddenly she’s a part of the popular crowd and learns that the house she moved into is haunted. Sudden screams, unexplained scratches, and someone mysteriously pushed down the stairs….. yes please!! Next is WHEN THE GROUND IS HARD by Malla Nunn. Two girls are in a Swaziland boarding school and deal with bullying, prejudice, and more. They come together through a shared copy of Jane Eyre and attempt to solve the mystery of a missing student, while also strengthening their friendship.
Those are the books I’ll be reading in May! I haven’t been doing a good job with keeping up with TBR’s lately, but this one I’ll be sticking too! I’m hoping I can throw in an audiobook or two but….. I’m still re-watching Game of Thrones so…… doubtful lol! What do you plan on reading in May?
Until next time, happy reading!
Does anyone else think the Aurora Rising cover looks like a young Xmen’s Rogue??
If Kristoff can’t cure your slump, we might have to start sacrificing various things to various gods…

Doesn’t Kristoff sacrifice things to the gods for us?? I thought that was how this whole thing worked….
