Top 5 Sequels I NEED To Get To!

Ah the sequel. I know that for a lot of us, the sequel was created as a readers guilt thing….. you love the first book and plan to get to the next one RIGHT AWAY! Then, for some reason, we don’t pick it up so it haunts us from our shelves…. calling to us and asking WHY aren’t we paying attention to them! I’m being dramatic but this is what it feels like lol.

This weeks topic can be interpreted in a few ways. You could list ones you have but haven’t read. You could also list sequels that you’re anticipating. I listed mostly ones that are only my backlist with one at the end that I’m highly anticipating. Here are the top 5 sequels that I really need to get to soon:

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme where I explore different topics. If you are interested in participating I would love to have you! Here is a list of my Upcoming topics in May – please remember to ping back a specific post of mine so I get a notification and I will add you to the participants list!

Archenemies

ARCHENEMIES by Marissa Meyer

I got this one for Christmas and I swore I was going to read it right away! Since it’s making this list – that obviously didn’t happen! I’ve added this book to my TBR a few times now and yet, it still sits unread. I think it’s the size. It’s not terribly long but – it just looks big and scary! I need to make this happen soon!

Dragonfly in amber

DRAGONFLY IN AMBER by Diana Gabaldon

This one I don’t feel too guilty about. Not yet anyway. I only finished the first book a couple months ago. This book is over 1000 pages I believe and it’s a commitment for sure! I’m waiting for the audiobook to become available so that I can bounce back and forth to make it feel a little shorter.

Morning Star

MORNING STAR by Pierce Brown

This one is one that I feel guilty about. This series feels like it’s been taking me forever to finish! I always wait so long in between these and it always takes me a while to get back into them. I know that if I wait a while it negatively impacts my reading experience….. but it’s still not pushing me to get to this any faster.

china rich girlfriend

CHINA RICH GIRLFRIEND by Kevin Kwan

I want to get to this one so badly! The only thing holding me back is that I don’t have a copy of it yet. I liked the first book in the series so much that I can’t stop thinking about this one! It’s like a crazy soap opera….. nothing that I would normally enjoy but I fell in love! I can’t wait for this one…. soon!

Darkdawn

DARKDAWN by Jay Kristoff

You had to know that this one was going to show up on the list! This one was originally set to come out in 2018. Then the publishing date was pushed back to the last quarter of 2019. So, technically, this was already supposed to have been in our hands! I don’t mind waiting for perfection though!! I’m so excited!!!

So those are the top 5 sequels I need to read! This list could have been so much longer! There’s always a series to keep up with it seems. What sequels do you need to get to?

Until next time, happy reading!

I approached mine the same way as you, started with backlog and added upcoming books at the end (but also I got to participate, yay!). I think Arch Enemies was a pretty good audiobook, so you could always try it that way!

  3. I also need to read China Rich Girlfriend. I am hoping it is just as good as the first one and that Astrid is highly featured!

    1. So I’ve heard. I can’t wait to finally get to it. I need to know how it concludes…… although there’s more books in the series now so…… ugh lol

    1. I loved renegades! There was so much grey area between what’s good and bad. They’re both doing things “for good” but have very different ideas of what’s good – if that makes any sense! Lol

I’ve been trying to finish the “Red Rising” series, too! And it’s not for lack of wanting. I definitely like the series and want to read it all. As you’ll see, “Golden Son” is on my list 🙂

    1. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who hasn’t finished the red rising series lol Golden Son took me a while to get into but then it blew my mind! Hope we both continue soon!

Perhaps that’s just how Brown’s books go? It to me a while to get into Red Rising, too, before the action and story really took over and I got really into it.

        1. I’m thinking that’s how he writes. I don’t mind it towards the end. But that beginning is a struggle!

Definitely! There was also so much world-building from the get-go in the first book, so that made it a bit difficult to power through until I got everything down and could just sit back and enjoy the story.

Well, these are five that aren’t even on my radar (yet) but not surprising given I read mostly crime fiction these days. Oh, and my list is posted. 😀

Your reaction to the Outlander sequel being super long is the same way I feel about the next A Song of Ice and Fire book. I really want to read it, but also, it’s so long and I have to mentally prep for it!

    1. Oh that’s a totally different beast in and of itself! There’s so many characters and plot lines to follow!!!! I think I’ve only read the first two books in that series. It was just too much for my brain. I felt like I needed to write notes the whole time lol
