Top 5 Mind Blowing Mystery/Thrillers!

Happy Top 5 Tuesday everyone! This is a topic that i’ve long been awaiting! Mystery and thriller are probably my least read genre. It’s not that I don’t like them – I do! It’s just that I have a really hard time finding ones that I like. I seem to have particular tastes, but I haven’t quite figured out what they are and how to find them lol! I don’t typically enjoy anything with a cop or detective….. which is most mysteries lol. And thrillers? I’m impossible to scare or creep out! I’ve watched way too many horror movies in my lifetime…. almost nothing scares me lol. But I have read quite a few good ones and can’t wait for your lists so I can expand my TBR!

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme where I explore different topics. If you are interested in participating I would love to have you! Here is a list of my Upcoming topics in April – please remember to ping back a specific post of mine so I get a notification and I will add you to the participants list!

A HEAD FULL OF GHOSTS by Paul Tremblay

This book is probably my absolute favourite mystery/thriller! It follows a family as they’re recording a reality TV show all about their daughter who is believed to be possessed. After many failed attempts to get her help through traditional medical avenues, they turned to unconventional assistance. This book is the only one I’ve ever been afraid to read at night! I never knew what to expect…….. but this ending……. literally blew me away!!!

you

YOU by Caroline Kepnes

This book was an interesting experience! It’s a first person narrative of a man as he stalks a woman. Normally a book where a man is stalking a girls every move would be creepy enough, but hearing in the first person made it even more chilling. It was almost as if you could feel his eyes on you at all time. And the way he was written kind of made you relate and sympathize with him…. it was really well done!

Feel me fall

FEEL ME FALL by James Morris

It’s been quite a while since I’ve mentioned this book! I was completely hooked by the premise – a plane crash that results in a single survivor. But when the plane crashed, there was more than just her alive. This is the story of what happened to the other survivors. I thought I had this one figured out…… wrong! There was always a surprise around the corner. The last page had my jaw on the floor!!

The Cuckoos calling

THE CUCKOOS CALLING by Robert Galbraith

Yeah, yeah, I know. I literally just said that I didn’t like cop or detective books and here I am listing a book with a private detective. Hear me out lol. In most mysteries that feature a cop, they’re the same type. I feel like they’re all the same person. But the main character of this book isn’t your typical detective. He’s smart as hell, rough around all the edges, and has mad street smarts. He also likes to drink, so there’s that lol!

No exit

NO EXIT by Taylor Adams

This was my most recent mystery/thriller read, and it was a pleasant surprise! After reading the first chapter I wondered how the hell this book could continue. It told you what happened, who was kidnapped, how, and who. With it all laid out I thought that the book would be boring from that point on. But no! This book was an insane and brutal survival story that constantly had me afraid for the main characters life! It was really good!

There they are! Just a few mystery/thrillers I’ve read over the last few years! I really can’t figure out what my tastes are in this genre, but I really wish I knew! I love the suspense and tension of reading these!! I can’t wait to see what makes your lists! What would be your favourite mysteries and thrillers?

Until next time, happy reading!

I found You creepy as well, but also so strange because like you said i could sympathize with the dude and also the woman was no prize either. 😀 I watched the series too but it was quite disappointing.

  12. You sounds incredibly creepy, I’m oddly compelled to read it despite its subject matter. I get the feeling it will be a dark book, not that I mind dark books!

Cormoran Strike is my favourite detective. I definitely agree with you that a lot of them seem the same, but I think JK has done a great job making him unique and yet believable.
