April 2019 TBR!

I’m officially renaming April…….. It will now be known as ARC April! There are SO MANY amazing books coming out in May!! Between all the ARC’s I have and the new releases…. there’s no way I can devour them all in the month of May. So the idea is that I’m going to try and stay ahead of the game. I’m still so busy with work that my head is spinning, but I’ve been feeling more into books than I was in March. Even though it might be a little ambitious, I have high hopes I can tackle all of these (and maybe a few more with the Off The Grid Readathon… see the end of this post for more details) So here’s what I plan to read in April:

The lies of Locke Lamora

THE LIES OF LOCKE LAMORA by Scott Lynch
This is a buddy read with fellow blogger (who also happens to be my cousin) Joe from Storeys of Stories. This book is SO interesting! There’s no way possible that I could predict what’s going to happen from one chapter to the next 🙂 This is the only book on my TBR that isn’t an ARC!

The binding

THE BINDING by Bridget Collins
This book has such an interesting premise! The ability to rid a person’s memories as you bind them into the pages of a book. But the new apprentice discovers his name on one of these books. I’ve heard some mixed reviews about it though…. so I’m a little nervous. Some people are saying that it sounds great but the story is nothing like they expected. So we will see what happens when I get to it.

A Thousand years to wait

A THOUSAND YEARS TO WAIT by L. Ryan Storms
OMG I’m so excited!!!!!! I mentioned this book in my haul the other day. I’ve actually already read this, but it was a few years ago and things have changed from the time it was in the beta stages. I can’t wait to dive back into this world with the characters! It was such a great adventure with a really amazing main character!!!

Dark shores

DARK SHORES by Danielle L Jensen
I’m a total sucker for anything with an old pirate ship….. so this book was a given lol. There were three bold sentences in the synopsis that hooked me immediately. I honestly didn’t read the whole synopsis before requesting this book!!! Here’s what caught my attention: “A pirate with a will of iron.” – “A soldier with a secret.” – “A dangerous quest.”…… see? All I needed to know!!

Nocturna

NOCTURNA by Maya Motayne
This is yet another one were a few buzzwords caught my attention. It’s a Latin-X setting, a women who is a talented face-shifter, caught by a powerful mobster, murder, forbidden magic, and unlocking an ancient power that will devour the world….. it’s also own voices and based on her own heritage! I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about her writing style so I can’t wait to experience it for myself!!!

Like I said above, the second Off The Grid Readathon of 2019 will be happening in April! The readathon begins on Friday April 12th at midnight (in your own timezone) and ends on Sunday April 14th at 11:59. That’s three days of reading as much as you can! No, that doesn’t mean that you’re expected to forget about your adult responsibilities like work and children! This just means that you need to try and read MORE. And when you set aside time to read – STAY AWAY FROM YOUR PHONE! Don’t let yourself get distracted by social media (a.k.a. the time sucking vortex) and read with purpose lol. For all details on the readathon, check out the announcement post HERE and check out all 2019 dates HERE. My official TBR and a little more information will be posted on Thursday April 11.

What are you most excited to read this month?

Until next time, happy reading!

  5. I am likewise in an ARC April! Playing a bit of whackamole reading ARCs releasing in April, trying to catch up a few that came out in March (oops) and trying to get a jump on May ARCs. This is what happens when you let yourself read nothing but backlist for a month! Despite that, I regret nothing. 🙂

    1. I highly recommend Locke! Once things get going you won’t want to stop! It’s brutal though….. my heart can’t handle this rollercoaster!
