First Impression Friday #24

This will probably be the shortest First Impression Friday to date. That might be a good thing or a bad thing. It’s been a busy couple of weeks, and I should be glad that I have anything to talk about at all! LOL! Luckily I rated these two books very high, so quality over quantity! Let’s see what I read and rated over the last two weeks:

First Impression Friday is a post that was created by the brilliant Joe from J.W. Martin – Storeys of Stories. Instead of doing this weekly like he does, I decided to do this one biweekly. So every two weeks, I take the books that I’ve finished within that time period, and I compare my first impressions (from the first 1-2 chapters) with my final thoughts and how I rated it. Here are my first impressions of the books I’ve read in the last 2 weeks:

With the fire on high

MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS – The chapters in this one were incredibly short. So short that I gave it at least 3 chapters before I formed a first impression. I knew almost immediately that this was going to be a good one. I immediately fell for Emoni, I was smiling over and over with the talk about cooking and cooking shows, and I could feel the authors passion. I guessed that I would rate this 5 stars…..

HOW I RATED IT – I was right! This was a really incredibly YA contemporary. I usually struggle to relate to YA contemporary, but this one I couldn’t help but fall in love with. The main character was strong and determined. She was amazing! And the love of cooking was something that I related to completely. This one publishes on May 7th. For my full review, click here

Dasiy Jones and the six

MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS – It didn’t take me long to know what I was going to rate this book. Within the first chapter I already had a feeling that this book was written specifically for me. The time period, the character driven plot, the music….. all of it. I couldn’t wait to read this one all the way through! I guessed that I would rate this 5 stars…..

HOW I RATED IT – Once again, I was right! I can’t tell you how much I loved this book! It was so different from anything I’ve read. The characters, the scenario, the music scene, the format of an interview style told like an autobiography…. it was seriously amazing!!! For my full review, click here

Like I said in the beginning, the last two weeks have been quality over quantity. I would much rather read 2 books that I rate 5 stars over 5 books that I rated 3 stars! So I consider this bookish winning!

Until next time, happy reading!
