Top 5 Ravenclaw reads!

Possibly the most exciting week in the Harry Potter themed month….. my own Hogwarts house! I most definitely identify as a Ravenclaw, even though I was originally sorted into Gryffindor on the first Pottermore questionnaire (if you haven’t sorted yourself into your own house, CLICK HERE to get started with sorting yourself into a house!!). I’ve also noticed that many other bookworms seem to be in this house as well. Coincidence??

Once again, if you’re not familiar with Ravenclaw house and their traits, here is some more information about their traits:

They are analytical, intelligent, logical yet impractical, curious, inquisitive, creative, witty, wise, interested in understanding things, cynics, fond of  intellectual discussion, introspective, independent, wordy, and self entertaining. They observe rather than participate, are fond of learning for the sake of learning, and good at school (or really anything that they have an interest in!)

As I did last week, this will be a list of both books and characters that represent those traits. Here we go:

NOTE TO ALL PARTICIPANTS!!!!
We are in the midst of a freezing rain/ice storm and it’s been a CHAOTIC morning. Branches and trees are falling, and we were without power for quite a while. It’s still raining, but the power has been restored for now. SO SORRY for not having the list updated! I’m getting to things as soon as I can! THE CITY OF BRASS by S.A. Chakraborty – Specifically the characters Nahri and Ali
Basically everything in the description above describes Nahri and Prince Ali! They’re both incredibly intellectual people. They both enjoy learning despite the negative feelings towards their choices in the things they’re learning about. The world they live in seems to be so focused on fighting, guarding, and protecting, yet Prince Ali is interested in the stars and the history of his people. The subject matter of the whole book fits Ravenclaw as well 🙂

THE NAME OF THE WIND by Patrick Rothfuss – Specifically the main character, Kvothe
I don’t care what anyone says – Kvothe is DEFINITELY a Ravenclaw! The man is obsessed with knowledge – and it just comes easy to him. He’s obviously logical and very impractical. His creative and inquisitive nature gets him into a lot of trouble…. but his creative nature also gets him OUT of a lot of trouble lol. He has a serious drive to understand and learn as much as possible as well. Kvothe is a very interesting person! Maybe that’s because I relate to a fellow Ravenclaw??

CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE by Tomi Adeyemi
There’s just something about this book that calls to my Ravenclaw soul. Everything about it, from the plot, to the world, to the characters, makes me interested. There’s so much to learn about the magic and the world, that my mind is consistently intrigued. The main character also displays a lot of Ravenclaw qualities – she’s creative, intelligent, witty, independent, and curious!

THE HUNGER GAMES by Suzanne Collins – Specifically Katniss
I feel a little weird putting this one on the list for Ravenclaw seeing as how it was such a popular choice for Gryffindor. But hear me out! Yes, I can see Katniss as a Gryffindor. She’s kind of like Hermoine but with weapons. But, it was the “Observe rather than participate” line that made me think of Katniss. She’s a leader, yes, but she was a reluctant one. She was more comfortable behind the scenes than at the front line. I think that she’s more of a Gryffin-Claw….

THE ILLUMINAE FILES by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff – Specifically Hanna and Kady
Kady and Hanna are definitely Ravenclaw! They’re both incredibly smart and really only apply themselves 100% when it’s things that they’re interested in (or things that will eventually save their asses lol). Their creativity and ingenuity is what gets them through each day as they’re always thinking outside the box. Not to mention they are HIGHLY independent! Don’t ask these ladies if they need help…. you might end up getting throat punched lol.

I can’t wait to see everyone’s list today! Last week with Gryffindor house, there were so many incredible lists! Also, there were so many different perceptions of what makes a book/character a Gryffindor. This week should be interesting as, like I said above, there are so many book lovers who seem to be a part of Ravenclaw…… or maybe i’m just thinking this because it’s my own house and I want everyone to be a part of it?! lol
