This was just one of those weeks that you wish you could close your eyes, go back to bed, and forget it ever happened lol! I was struggling with my anxiety all week because the stress never seemed to let up. Money, work, appointments, snow cancellations, and then freezing cold weather that froze the pipes and we had no running water. My dad (aka my hero – Dad if you’re reading this, then you already knew that! LOL!) came over on a day he took off from work because of a sore back, crawled under my house for hours, thawed out the pipes and insulated. Luckily he was able to get things thawed before we had any pipes burst. Even though everything has turned out well in the end, I still shed a lot of tears. Because of all of this, I didn’t read nearly as much as I wanted to. I tried reading to escape, but I wasn’t able to focus on much of anything. Aside from my personal struggles, here’s what happened in my bookish world:
BOOKS I FINISHED THIS WEEK:
THE KINGDOM OF COPPER by S.A. Chakrabortty <—– click for full review
OMG this book was just soooooo good! I don’t think that her writing could improve in any way…. she’s just perfection! I absolutely love this world and these characters, as well as the political direction that this book went in. Her books could be 2,000 pages long and I’d be like “OK! Let’s do this in 2 days!”….. and I would make it happen. If you haven’t started this series yet, and you love fantasy and magic, then please, please, PLEASE consider picking it up!
BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:
I’m currently in the middle of two books. The first one is the third book in the Mistborn series, The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson. It seems as though I’ve read one Brandon Sanderson a month for the last 5 months…… I’m liking this trend! I’m about 200 pages into it and I’m so happy that it seems questions will be answered in this one. The atmosphere is a little different from the first two, but i’m absolutely loving it! The second book I’m reading is The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris. I’ve heard so much about it and my slightly depressive mood is calling to a sad an impactful story. I’m about 3/4 of the way through this one and will finish it by tonight.
OTHER BOOKISH NEWS:
TOP 5 TUESDAY:
This weeks topic was the Top 5 badass females – and your lists were amazing! I love reading about strong women. Strong in mind, will, body, and more. They’re such an inspiration! This week coming up is the first topic in the themed Harry Potter month! This Tuesday we will be talking about Gryffindor House. For more details of what this entails, please check out the link in the line above. It will outline the books you will be talking about and the houses as well.
That’s it for this week. Too much stress and too much work makes Bionic Book Worm CrAzY! Cross your fingers I have a relaxing week…… I need all the help I can get! LOL! Hope your week was better than might and you got in some reading time! What was your favourite read this week?
Until next time, happy reading!
