It’s Fri-yay!!! Which also means that it’s First Impression Friday time!! And apparently this is the 20th edition of it! How has time passed by so quickly?! This is one of my favourite meme’s to do! Here’s some more info on it:
First Impression Friday is a post that was created by the brilliant Joe from JW Martin – Storeys of Stories. Instead of doing this weekly like he does, I decided to do this one biweekly. So every two weeks, I take the books that I’ve finished within that time period, and I compare my first impressions (from the first 1-2 chapters) with my final thoughts and how I rated it. Here are my first impressions of the books I’ve read in the last 2 weeks:
MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS – This was one of those books that, within that first chapter, the words start to seep into your soul and warm your heart like a giant hug. By the time I made it to the second chapter I didn’t want to put it down….. in fact, I didn’t! I finished it in one sitting! I guessed that I would rate this one 5 stars…..
HOW I RATED IT – OBVIOUSLY I rated it 5 stars! This book was so sweet and wonderful! I like the main character but I LOVED the atmosphere. For a middle grade novel, this book amazed me! I can’t wait for more in this series! For my full review, click HERE!
MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS – Another book that hooked me with the first chapter!!! The setting and writing immediately grabbed my attention and didn’t let go. I instantly loved the main character Spensa, and loved her determination to become a pilot. I was a little nervous at first to see how Brandon Sanderson would handle a science fiction though, but I still guessed that I would rate this one 5 stars…..
HOW I RATED IT – …. and it was hands down a 5 star read!! I LOVED this book SO much! Any doubts I had with Brandon Sanderson writing science fiction were thrown to the wind! Honestly, he needs to write MORE! I could gush about this one all day, but I’ve already done that in my full review lol (which you can see Here
MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS – I LOVED the first chapter of this book! But it didn’t say much about the characters as none were present in that first chapter. So I continued onto the second chapter and I was still enjoying it and dying to know more about the magic and how the circumstances lead to her going to Versailles. I guessed that I would rate this one 4 stars…..
HOW I RATED IT – I was right! It ended up slowing down after those first 2 chapters though. It took me almost 100 pages to really get invested in the story. Luckily it picked up and I ended up really enjoying it – specifically the setting!! Click HERE for my full spoiler free review and author Q&A!
There was one more book that I read over the last two weeks and that was The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty. It was a reread though so I don’t think that it was really fair that I talked about my first impressions…… I obviously loved it lol!
Until next time, happy reading!
3 for 3. Not bad! I guess it’s okay not to be surprised when you’re guessing at such high numbers! Thanks for playing along with FIF!!
