Weekly Wrap Up – January 7 – 13

WHAT A WEEK! Seriously! It was a busy as hell week, but one that was productive, happy and exciting! Work was insane but we kept our heads up high and got a lot of stuff done. Family life was chaos as usual – the kids finally went back to school after winter break, my daughter started art classes, and my son threw up like the exorcist lol. But all is well! As far as bookish things – it was even busier and exciting!!! Sorry that I wasn’t answering comments much – there’s a reason for that….. I’ll get to that in a minute! But first, here’s the books I’ve been reading:

BOOKS I FINISHED THIS WEEK:

Yes…… that’s right….. I finished FOUR books this week!!!!! I’m going to admit that I was about half way through the first two books, and the last one I finished in a day for the Off The Grid Readathon. Let’s Go Swimming on Doomsday was absolutely AMAZING!!! It was so well written and filled with emotion as the story of this boy was told. I will have a full review up tomorrow. The Librarian of Auschwitz wasn’t as good of a reading experience unfortunately. I only ended up rating it 2 stars. It lacked all emotion and I was honestly bored the whole time. Wildcard was a pleasant surprise! I had heard a few mixed reviews about it but, thankfully, all the things that people seemed to dislike was actually a positive for me! And then there was Pages and Co…… omg this book was just what I needed! I loved every single thing about it and plan on rereading it again soon!! All reviews will be coming soon…… I am SO behind on my reviews!!!

BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:

First we have Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. I really wanted to have it finished during the readathon this weekend but life just got in the way. I was SO busy with work and my son got sick – by the time I got the chance to sit and read I was just exhausted. But I’ll be finishing it soon!! As soon as I finish that one I will be reading Enchantee! I am a part of the blog tour for this book so check back on January 23 for my review of that one!

OTHER BOOKISH NEWS:

TOP 5 TUESDAY:

It’s back!! This weeks topic was the top 5 books I NEED to read in 2019 and was the first Top 5 Tuesday post of 2019….. and I swear you almost broke my blog with all the blog traffic! That day marked the most views my blog had ever had AND marked the most participants I’ve ever had! I really wanted to comment on all your posts but I just didn’t have enough time in a day. Next weeks topic is a motivational one – the top 5 reasons I love reading!

OFF THE GRID READATHON:

The Off The Grid Readathon is back for 2019! Actually – it’s still happening until 11:59 tonight (so I still have time to finish Skyward lol!) This Readathon got a lot of participants and was SO much fun! I loved seeing everyones progress on Twitter, and I loved the extra motivation to read this weekend. I might have to do my own personal readathon again soon because, as a host, I spent a lot of time on my phone conversing with others about the readathon, so I didn’t read as much as I wanted to lol. If you’re interested in participating in the future, check all the dates out HERE!

HUGE NEWS! I’M GOING TO A COUPLE BOOK EVENTS!

I am so excited for 2 book events coming up in February! I was going to be in Toronto with my daughter at the end of the month, but we have decided to extend our stay and make it an entire girls weekend! She will be dress shopping on Saturday for a wedding, and then we are doing dinner with family. Then Sunday is book event day!!!! We will be attending the Harper Collins/HCC Frenzy spring preview! I’ve been sent invites before, but could never find the time to get away to Toronto. But since we will already be there – it was fate! Not only that but….. they are coupling it with another event to which I’ve already purchased tickets…….. TO MEET ANGIE THOMAS!! Swoon! I’m so excited for this to be a mother daughter weekend but to also attend something I never thought I would be able too! I CAN’T WAIT to share the experience with my daughter and share it with you all as well 🙂

So that was my crazy week! Looking back at it now, I am in AWE that I was able to accomplish this much with my reading. I’m not kidding when I say that work was insane. I was packaging product every day and shipping out orders every day. It was non stop. Just goes to show that books keep my sanity throughout the chaos! Hope you all had a fantastic week! I’m going to shut my phone and computer off until 11:59 so I can finish this readathon strong! I’ll check comments and talk to you all tomorrow!

Until next time, happy reading!

I’m so excited for those reviews!!!
I was looking forward to The Librarian of Auschwitz so I’m intrigued to read about your thoughts.
I’m also about to start Warcross and I hope I’ll enjoy it!
I just looked up the summary for Pages and Co and immediately put it on my TBR list!! It seems so cute and lovely (and I love Alice in Wonderland so a cameo of her sounds perfect)!
    Have an amazing week!
