Weekly Wrap Up – Dec 10 – 16

8 days left until Christmas!!! Wow! This month has absolutely flown by! I was so stressed out at the beginning of the month. Gifts to buy, appointments to attend, a house to clean…. always something. But now that I’ve got all of my shopping done (Finally!) I can step back, relax, and plan the final details. And make Christmas cookies – YUM!

Oh, and I am now only 3 books away from my goal of 100 this year!!! OMG it’s happening! I’m going to be finishing a book tonight so that will make only 2 to be read this year. I can’t wait to see those triple digits! Anyways, here’s what happened in my bookish life this week:

BOOKS I’VE FINISHED THIS WEEK:

The storied life of AJ Fikry

THE STORIED LIFE OF A.J. FIKRY <—– click for full review – 3 stars

This was a book that had sat on my shelf for many years but it never seemed the right time to read it. I’m glad that I finally got around to it, however, it didn’t live up to the hype that it’s gotten over the years. I was expecting a story to impact my emotions strongly and it just missed a mark. The weird thing is – I can’t even really pinpoint why! I go into a little more detail in the full review. It was good, but not outstanding.

BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:

First off, I am SO close to finishing The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith (it’s really J.K. Rowling – she’s fooling no one). I have less than 100 pages left and will be finishing it tonight 🙂 It’s going ok. I love Strike, but the plot is a little draggy for me. I’ll get into this more in my review (which will be posted tomorrow afternoon)

Next – I’M FINALLY READING OUTLANDER!!!!!! I have had so many people scream at me to read this! Literally every time I see my mother in law she ask’s if i’ve started it yet. I’m only about 75 pages in so far, but it’s wonderful! I love the characters, the setting, and everything in between. The writing is just glorious! It’s a bit overwhelming sometimes, but I enjoy that type of writing every once in a while. It might take me a while to finish this one, but it’s going to be done before 2019 🙂

OTHER BOOKISH NEWS:

TOP 5 TUESDAY:

This week’s topic was a lot of fun! It was the Top 5 books I didn’t get to in 2018 – and I was especially glad to see that there were so many people that hadn’t gotten to books they were really anticipating. I felt like I was the only one! The last topic for 2018 is coming up this week and that is the Top 5 books on your Christmas wish list 🙂 Top 5 Tuesday will return on January 8th. The topics for that month will be released the week before. Hope to see you back again in January!

END OF THE YEAR WRAP UP’S, RECAPS, AND LISTS COMING THIS WEEK!

This is going to be a VERY BUSY week for the blog! Since I’m taking a hiatus soon (see below), I’m going to spend this coming week taking a look at my reading year in 2018. This week I will be talking about my reading goals and how I did, my wrap up of books read in 2018, and my top 10 reads of the year!  The wrap up post talking about the books I’ve read is a MASSIVE undertaking that makes a disaster of my bookshelves so I’m not looking forward to that one at all! LOL! But I love seeing it separated so it’s worth it 🙂

ANNOUNCING A HIATUS:

Every year around Christmas, I take a few weeks off. I LOVE being able to step away and focus on family around the holidays. The kids are so excited, there’s so many family functions, and it’s all around too busy to focus on anything else. I REALLY do miss the blog and all my blogger friends while i’m gone though!! My last post will be this Friday December 21st, and I will return again on January 1st. I’m both excited and dreading it lol.

Whew! That’s it for this week! The coming week is the busiest blogging week of the year for me and I can’t wait to share all of these exciting posts with you!!!!

Until next time, happy reading!

The Cuckoo’s Calling is a good first book in a series, but it’s not as good as The Silkworm or Career of Evil. Cormoran Strike is bae! 💗
