Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag!

Eek! A Christmas themed book tag! I was so excited when I was tagged by Bookish Kimberly and I knew that I had to do this immediately! Her answers were so much fun to read and made me realize that I wasn’t alone in some of these things. Let’s get to it!

RULES

  • Tag & link the person who tagged you
  • Tag and link me/this post (if you would be so kind, I love reading your answers!) – Jenn
  • Tick/cross off the ones you’ve done
  • Tag another 10 people!

1 – RECIEVED AN ARC AND NOT REVIEWED IT:

Yes, but not because I didn’t want to or forgot. I got an ARC and the book had so many issues with it that I just couldn’t review. No matter how I approached the situation, feelings would be unintentionally hurt. It was a very touchy situation. So I contacted the publisher, relayed my problems and requested that I not review it. The decision and over all situation still haunts me.

2 – HAVE LESS THAN 60% FEEDBACK RATING ON NETGALLEY:

Nope – because I don’t have Netgalley lol!

3 – RATED A BOOK ON GOODREADS AND PROMISED A FULL REVIEW WAS TO COME ON YOUR BLOG AND NEVER DID:

Yes, this has happened a few times, but always on accident. When you have so many platforms to update, one of them sometimes gets forgotten. But at the end of the month/year I try to go back through the books I’ve read and make sure the reviews are there.

4 – FOLDED DOWN THE PAGE OF A BOOK:

No. Just plain no. Not ever.

5 – ACCIDENTALLY SPILLED ON A BOOK:

No…. BUT…. my books have gotten wet a few times when I was reading by the pool and the kids jumped in and splashed it. Luckily, since it was warm out when it happened, the pages dried quickly and nicely!

6 – DNF’D A BOOK THIS YEAR:

Yup. A couple of them. I hate doing it but I’m glad that I’m finally embracing giving up on books that I know I’m not interested in.

7 – BOUGHT A BOOK PURELY BECAUSE IT WAS PRETTY WITH NO INTENTION OF READING IT:

No. I’ve been tempted, but never have. I have too many books on my wish list and I’m not willing to waste money on a book I don’t plan to read.

8 – READ WHILST YOU WERE MEANT TO BE DOING SOMETHING ELSE (LIKE HOMEWORK):

Absolutely yes….. story of my life! LOL! I work from home so sometimes, when I need a mental break (or when I’m in the middle of a really good book and can’t stop thinking about it lol), I’ll stop and read for a little bit. If my husband is reading this (which you’re probably not – I mean, do you even read my blog??) I’m sorry…… not really.

9 – SKIM READ A BOOK:

Yes, but only once. There was a situation when I was well past the 50% mark of a book and I didn’t want to DNF it because I hoped that it would pick up towards the end…… spoiler alert – it didn’t.

10 – COMPLETELY MISSED YOUR GOODREADS GOAL:

No. I’ve only really started making my Goodreads goal a priority over the last 3 years and I’ve been fortunate enough to reach it every year.

11 – BORROWED A BOOK FROM THE LIBRARY AND NOT RETURNED IT:

No this hasn’t happened. I’m way too OCD to not return something lol

12 – BROKE A BOOK BUYING BAN:

Every. Single. Time. That’s why i’ve given up on book buying ban. Every single time I tell myself that I’m not allowed to have something, it makes me want it more.

13 – STARTED A REVIEW, LEFT IT FOR AGES, THEN FORGOT WHAT THE BOOK WAS ABOUT:

No. As soon I start writing a review I can’t put my computer down until I finish it. It’s a totally compulsive thing!

14 – WROTE IN A BOOK YOU WERE READING:

No. I’ve written on post it notes and stuck those in a book, but I haven’t written on the pages of a book. I want to, and plan to give it a shot in 2019. A little nervous about it!

15 – FINISHED A BOOK AND NOT ADDED IT TO YOUR GOODREADS:

No. My Goodreads goal has been such a driving factor to my reading so I always make sure that I add to so I can reach my goal.

16 – BORROWED A BOOK AND NOT RETURNED IT TO A FRIEND:

I’ve never done this. I’ve loaned out books to friends and not gotten it back so I know what it feels like when someone doesn’t bring it back.

17 – DODGED SOMEONE ASKING IF THEY CAN BORROW A BOOK:

YES! Absolutely yes. Like I said in the question above, I’ve loaned out books and not gotten it back so I never loan books anymore.

18 – BROKE THE SPINE OF SOMEONE ELSE’S BOOK:

NO! I absolutely can’t stand broken spines! I won’t do this to my own and I definitely wouldn’t do this to a book that I didn’t personally own!

19 – TOOK THE JACKET OFF A BOOK AND ENDED UP MAKING IT MORE DAMAGED:

Yes. Once. I set the dust jacket aside and it ended up getting caught on something on my shelf and ripped the dust jacket! Luckily it was on the back so it’s not that noticeable… but still AHHHH!

20 – SAT ON A BOOK ACCIDENTALLY:

No…… I’m very particular of where I put my books down. I will wipe down surfaces just to make sure that it’s clean, I will check the proximity to liquids…… once again, OCD lol

FINAL SCORE – 8/20

I guess that means that I’m mostly bookishly nice? I’m used to always being naughty so this is a bit of a change lol. I tag: Birdie Bookworm – I Should Read That – Storeys of Stories – Bookishly Rebecca – Pace Amore Libri – Kyera’s Library – Lili’s Blissful Pages – A Fictional Bookworm – Kristin Kraves Books – Beware of the Reader

Until next time, happy reading!

I did this tag I think earlier this week, but some of my questions were different! That’s interesting. Thanks for the tag anyway! I’m impressed you’ve been able to resist Netgalley!!

  3. Ha ha! Most of these are the story of my life… I still have to learn how to give up on books though… I have so many to get through and so little time that I really need to learn how to DNF.

    1. DNF’ing is soooooo hard! There are so many that I’ve pushed through because I needed to know what happened and then I regret wasting my time. I think we just need to find some weird green slime somewhere that will give us super human reading powers. That would fix the problem I think 😂

      1. I keep trying to find that slime…. Be sure to share if you some across it, and I’ll do the same for you! 😉

          1. Hey, this way, between the 2 of us we can read even MORE books!! 😀💖📚📚📚📚

          2. Weirdly enough, I’m randomly thinking of it scientifically… Like, I can only take so much slime because it helps with speeding up reading… Not prolonging my life. So, I can STILL only read a finite amount of books. So, better to spread it around so as many people can read more books as possible!! 😂😂 Yes… I’m weird. 😅

  5. Thank you so much for tagging me Shanah.. And i’m excited to do this one. Maybe tomorrow for my #Blogmas post coz you’re the third to tag me with this and it’s a sign I need to do this one very soon. 🙂

And I agree with all your points here especially dodging others who wants to borrow my books. I don’t want othe rpeople touching my books. The alst someone touches my book, it was WINTER the 4th book of The Lunar Chronicles and she lost it. I really cried coz I bought the whole series in the same editions. Now I don’t think if there’s still a way to have he book in the same edition. 😦

    Liked by 1 person

    1. OH NO!!!! I hope you can find it in the same edition. She couldn’t have lost a stand-alone – it HAD to be part of a series?! Ugh

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Right??? And worse I didn’t know she borrowed it. She knew I wouldn’t let her borrow so she just took it and planned to return it without telling me at all. i only discover it’s missing coz I was supposed to reread the whole series…

Ugh!!! but I guess some people, especially those who are not as addict as us, don’t really understand why I reacted the way I did. She thought i was making a big deal out of nothing.

        Sorry, i’m whining here 🙂 🙂

        1. Whine away!! Our books are like our babies and they demand respect! 😂

1 – RECIEVED AN ARC AND NOT REVIEWED IT 🧚‍♀️
    Never emreceived an ARC 😦
2 – HAVE LESS THAN 60% FEEDBACK RATING ON NETGALLEY 👿

Probably I joined hoping to get free books but, realised need a kindle to participate.
3 – RATED A BOOK ON GOODREADS AND PROMISED A FULL REVIEW WAS TO COME ON YOUR BLOG AND NEVER DID 🧚‍♀️

    Don’t have goodreads.
4 – FOLDED DOWN THE PAGE OF A BOOK 🧚‍♀️
    Never do this.
5 – ACCIDENTALLY SPILLED ON A BOOK 👿
I think perhaps it was this year, I had an incident trying to curl up on sofa with book and hot chocolate 😦
    6 – DNF’D A BOOK THIS YEAR: 👿
Yes. Not sure I can say properly read Dracula 🧛‍♂️ as was skim reading a lot. There may be one other, that I can not even remember.
7 – BOUGHT A BOOK PURELY BECAUSE IT WAS PRETTY WITH NO INTENTION OF READING IT: 🧚‍♀️
No. Never done this.
8 – READ WHILST YOU WERE MEANT TO BE DOING SOMETHING ELSE (LIKE HOMEWORK): 🧚‍♀️
Probably.
    9 – SKIM READ A BOOK: 👿
Yes. For example Dracula.
10 – COMPLETELY MISSED YOUR GOODREADS GOAL: 🧚‍♀️
No. Don’t have goodreads and don’t set reading targets. I read most days for fun, and don’t want targets. Don’t think I really need to read faster and therefore buy more books.
11 – BORROWED A BOOK FROM THE LIBRARY AND NOT RETURNED IT: 🧚‍♀️
No.
12 – BROKE A BOOK BUYING BAN: 🧚‍♀️
No, but then never really banned myself.
13 – STARTED A REVIEW, LEFT IT FOR AGES, THEN FORGOT WHAT THE BOOK WAS ABOUT: 👿
Maybe, don’t review every book read and sometimes soon forget about them.
14 – WROTE IN A BOOK YOU WERE READING: 👿
I tried my hand at some black out poetry this year. I’m seeing it as another way of engaging with the book.
15 – FINISHED A BOOK AND NOT ADDED IT TO YOUR GOODREADS: 🧚‍♀️
    As above not got goodreadsz
16 – BORROWED A BOOK AND NOT RETURNED IT TO A FRIEND:
Never.
17 – DODGED SOMEONE ASKING IF THEY CAN BORROW A BOOK:
No, but then don’t get asked very often. There is someone who lost my copy of First day (I bought a second hand copy this year as a replacement), so they are never borrowing a book again. However, most books can be replaced so I’m not too precious. I’ve even let someone read Lullaby which I had signed last week; it will be good to talk about what they think when they finish! In conclusion I’m in favour of book swaps.
18 – BROKE THE SPINE OF SOMEONE ELSE’S BOOK: 🧚‍♀️
Not that know.
19 – TOOK THE JACKET OFF A BOOK AND ENDED UP MAKING IT MORE DAMAGED: 🧚‍♀️
No
    20 – SAT ON A BOOK ACCIDENTALLY
    Don’t think so.
