Weekly Wrap Up – Nov

I’m back after my mini hiatus! Well, sort of. I’m writing this post but still taking a break from comments until Monday. I have to say that taking this break was a really good decision. My life has been so busy so I didn’t have the pressure of keeping up with the blog and social media hanging over my head. I’ve been in a bit of a social media slump lately anyway. I just don’t have the desire or determination to keep up with it all. I really hope that this comes back but I think it’s going to take a while.

Good news is – while I was working like a crazy person, I was able to listen to audiobooks all day long! So I managed to finish TWO books as audiobooks this week! *Cue dance party* I guess that’s the perks of working for yourself – you don’t have anyone telling you that you can’t do things lol. I also started reading a physical book this week but haven’t finished it yet. Here’s what I read this week:

CITY OF GHOSTS by Victoria Schwab <—– click for full review – 5 stars

I loved this book! This was just what I needed in my life at this moment. It was quirky, adventurous, paranormal, filled with travel, and folklore! I’ve always had a hard time connecting with Victoria Schwab’s writing for some reason, but this one was just fantastic! I can’t wait for more in this series!!

Yes, I FINALLY read a Percy Jackson book! I’ve only been promising people for years that I would read it lol. I will have a full review up tomorrow with all my thoughts, but for now I will say that it was a bit of a mixed bag for me. The beginning was almost impossible to push through. I almost DNF’d it actually. I was confused, bored, and it was just a blah experience. The second half of the book when he finally goes on the quest though – FANTASTIC! I loved it after that! I think that I’ll like the rest of the series more now that all the ground work has been set up.

This is book two to the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne and I’m absolutely loving being back with these characters! Oberon the dog is hands down the best thing in this series. I’m reading this one physically, still imagining Oberon as the voice of Scooby Doo and it’s the best thing ever! The humour and chaos of these books is just amazing!!

This weeks topic is one that I LOVED talking about, and that is the Top 5 books that drained my emotions. There are some books out there that hit an emotional cord and their impact hasn’t left my heart. A few of these I hope to reread in 2019 because I loved them so much! Also, the final top 5 topics of 2018 will be coming out tomorrow! Keep an eye out 🙂

That was my week! It felt a little weird taking a couple days off but I really needed them. The coming week is a little slower, but still pretty busy, so I might still take a while to get back to you in the comments. Hope you had an amazing week!

Until next time, happy reading!
