September 2018 TBR!

It’s the beginning of the month and you know what that means – TBR time!!! Like I said in my weekly wrap up post yesterday, I’m in the mood to read EVERYTHING! I want to devour all the books! No matter the genre or the page count, I want to read as many pages as I possibly can! So I have high hopes that I will accomplish a lot this month! I have a few books that I definitely want to read, but I’m keeping things open for a few books I’m randomly in the mood to read. But here are the 6 books I really want to put on the read shelf this month:

First I have HOUNDED by Kevin Hearne. This book was suggested to me by Zoe from the YouTube channel YerABookNerdZoe. She mentioned some trigger words that are a must read for me: An ancient Druid, gods, smart assery, fae, battles, all while set in modern day Arizona…… sounds right up my weird and twisted alley! I actually read the first 4 chapters at Starbucks when I picked the book up and I was immediately obsessed!!! I am picking this one back up today!

Next is THE ECHO ROOM by Parker Peevyhouse. This one is an ARC sent to me from Raincoast Books/Tor. It is set to release on September 11th, so I will need to read this one really soon. Mystery isn’t a genre that I typically pick up, but the synopsis grabbed me immediately. A guy and a girl wake up and have no idea where they are. They’ve never met before, and they’re faced with the decision to trust each other or not as they realize that they’re locked in. There’s even a hint that they’re locked in from something that’s outside which sounds super creepy! I have high hopes for this one!

Of course Sarah J Maas’ Catwoman makes my TBR! I’m not really into comics or comic characters, but I remember being obsessed with Catwoman when I was younger! Batman was really popular but I never cared about him much. It was always Catwoman! I really hope that a novel form of her story will live up to my expectations!

And my last ARC for the month was sent to me by Hachette Book Group Canada and that is MUSE OF NIGHTMARES by Laini Taylor. Strange the Dreamer is one of the most beautifully written books I’ve ever read! The plot lived up to that writing and so did the characters. I can’t wait to drown in her words again!!!!

TBR UNHAUL CHALLENGE #5

I can’t believe I’m going into my 5th month of this challenge! It’s been such a huge driving force to knock down some of the books off my TBR! Like I said when I announced this challenge, I planned to keep it going through December. I will definitely be continuing on through 2019, but I will possibly evaluate this challenge and make some changes. I have some time to think on it yet. Here are the books that I MUST read this month or they get unhauled:

KIDS PICK OF THE MONTH:

Queen of the Tearling! I am SO excited for this! I wanted to pick it up shortly after the third book was released, but I started to hear some mixed reviews. Especially where the ending of the series as a whole is concerned. It got some strong reactions and a lot of it was negative. So I’m going into the series cautious.

TBR JAR PICK OF THE MONTH:

FINALLY! I’ve wanted to read Vengeance Road ever since it came out! I preordered it even lol. I saw the cover and bought it based on the cover alone – Look at it! Possibly my favourite cover of all time! But for some strange reason I haven’t read it yet!!! I refuse to get rid of it. This cover will forever and always be proudly displayed. So looks like I’m reading this for sure in September!

Those are the 6 books that I’m set to read this month. I have a feeling that due to my increased desire to read, I will read a little more than that, but I’m leaving it open for some mood reading choices. What do you plan to read this month?

Until next time, happy reading!

Thatcertainly a mixed collection. I’m not sure about Catwoman, but hey, each to their own. I haven’t set out what to read for the month. I usually just grab the next book in the pile or, at least one of them, and yes, the cover can sometimes play a part.

But first I need to finish Finding Nouf, which I started and am struggling with.

It’s not bad, it’s not terrible, it’s just slow. I’m sticking with it because, in the end, it is interesting.

  3. I’m currently reading These Rebel Waves! Got a serious pirate mood on thanks to Fairyloots latest box. I also would like to finish the Shadow and Bone series but Siege And Storm has less than good reviews which surprised me but it’s giving me second thoughts… πŸ˜• good luck with your TBR! πŸ˜€

Muse of Nightmares is definitely on my TBR. I hadn’t heard of Vengeance Road until a week or two ago, but that cover alone is amazing and make me want to read it.

    1. Oh I never thought to look the artist up on Instagram!! Need to do that ASAP! And here I was thinking I was the only one that gave characters accents and voices appropriate to their time period! πŸ˜‚
