It’s that time again! The time where I sit and look at the over 100 unread books on my shelf and dream about adding even more….. bookworm struggles! As always, this is a list of the books that I can think about but I know that there are so many more that I’m forgetting. But for now, these will do. Here are the books I can’t wait to pick up when they’re released in September and October:
SADIE by Courtney Summers – Released September 4th
I’ve announced on Twitter that my official blog tour stop will be happening on September 7th! I am BEYOND excited for it! I will have an exclusive author Q&A and let me tell you, the answer to my question is an interesting one. It made me look at this book in another light. Also, if you haven’t heard, there is a 4 part mini series podcast that was based on this book! Obviously there are no spoilers but it sets up the book that’s for sure! I’ve listened to the first three parts and I feel like I already know the town, the characters, and the situation. Since I know how the author replied to my question, it made it even more ominous. I can’t wait to share with you! If you’re interested in the podcast, search for The Girls.
Sadie hasn’t had an easy life. Growing up on her own, she’s been raising her sister Mattie in an isolated small town, trying her best to provide a normal life and keep their heads above water.
But when Mattie is found dead, Sadie’s entire world crumbles. After a somewhat botched police investigation, Sadie is determined to bring her sister’s killer to justice and hits the road following a few meagre clues to find him.
When West McCray—a radio personality working on a segment about small, forgotten towns in America—overhears Sadie’s story at a local gas station, he becomes obsessed with finding the missing girl. He starts his own podcast as he tracks Sadie’s journey, trying to figure out what happened, hoping to find her before it’s too late. Find it on Goodreads
THE ECHO ROOM by Parker Peevyhouse – released September 11
I don’t hide the fact that mysteries aren’t my thing. I wish they were. But as soon as I read the synopsis for this book – I was hooked! There’s the thriller/mystery elements of being locked in a room with a stranger and fighting to decide if you should trust them or not. And then there’s the fact that there’s a danger outside of the locked room that might be more heinous than what’s going on on the inside….. sounds interesting! I can’t wait to dive in and figure it all out!
Rett wakes on the floor of a cold, dark room. He doesn’t know how he got there, only that he’s locked in. He’s not alone — a girl named Bryn is trapped in the room with him. When she finds a mysterious bloodstain and decides she doesn’t trust Rett, he tries to escape on his own — Rett wakes on the floor of the same cold, dark room. He doesn’t trust Bryn, but he’ll have to work with her if he ever hopes to escape. They try to break out of the room — Rett and Bryn hide in a cold, dark room. Safe from what’s outside.
But they’re not alone. Find it on Goodreads
WILDCARD by Marie Lu – released September 18
It feels like it’s been forever since the first book Warcross was released! It wasn’t my favourite book, but it was still an enjoyable and interesting read. The world is what really hooked me! I figured out the plot twist early on, but I still can’t wait to see how this all plays out!
Emika Chen barely made it out of the Warcross Championships alive. Now that she knows the truth behind Hideo’s new NeuroLink algorithm, she can no longer trust the one person she’s always looked up to, who she once thought was on her side.
Determined to put a stop to Hideo’s grim plans, Emika and the Phoenix Riders band together, only to find a new threat lurking on the neon-lit streets of Tokyo. Someone’s put a bounty on Emika’s head, and her sole chance for survival lies with Zero and the Blackcoats, his ruthless crew. But Emika soon learns that Zero isn’t all that he seems–and his protection comes at a price.
Caught in a web of betrayal, with the future of free will at risk, just how far will Emika go to take down the man she loves? Find it on Goodreads
MUSE OF NIGHTMARES by Laini Taylor – releases October 2
This book holds a special place in my heart for a few reasons. First of all, the first book in this series, Strange the Dreamer, was the first ever physical ARC that I received! It was so exciting that I cried like a baby! Second, Strange the Dreamer was one of the most beautifully written books I’ve ever read. I stopped so many times while reading to write down paragraphs because I never wanted to forget her words. And, lastly, her name is Laini…. my daughters name is Laney. No, I didn’t name my daughter after this author, but it’s rare to hear someone else with my daughters name!
In the wake of tragedy, neither Lazlo nor Sarai are who they were before. One a god, the other a ghost, they struggle to grasp the new boundaries of their selves as dark-minded Minya holds them hostage, intent on vengeance against Weep.
Lazlo faces an unthinkable choice—save the woman he loves, or everyone else?—while Sarai feels more helpless than ever. But is she? Sometimes, only the direst need can teach us our own depths, and Sarai, the muse of nightmares, has not yet discovered what she’s capable of.
As humans and godspawn reel in the aftermath of the citadel’s near fall, a new foe shatters their fragile hopes, and the mysteries of the Mesarthim are resurrected: Where did the gods come from, and why? What was done with thousands of children born in the citadel nursery? And most important of all, as forgotten doors are opened and new worlds revealed: Must heroes always slay monsters, or is it possible to save them instead? Find it on Goodreads
KINGDOM OF ASH by Sarah J Maas – releases October 23
Last but CERTAINLY not least, we have the series finale of Throne of Glass!!!!! I have a funny feeling that this book will bring me on the verge of a heart attack! I have so many theories about what will happen and where everyone will end up. I hope some of my theories are proven right but I hope some are proven wrong. I’m actually quite terrified to read this one!!! I’ve heard a rumour that one of the main characters doesn’t make it through the end…… and there’s the fact that it’s 1,000 pages…… this book may be the death of me!!!
Aelin has risked everything to save her people―but at a tremendous cost. Locked within an iron coffin by the Queen of the Fae, Aelin must draw upon her fiery will as she endures months of torture. Aware that yielding to Maeve will doom those she loves keeps her from breaking, though her resolve begins to unravel with each passing day…
With Aelin captured, Aedion and Lysandra remain the last line of defense to protect Terrasen from utter destruction. Yet they soon realize that the many allies they’ve gathered to battle Erawan’s hordes might not be enough to save them. Scattered across the continent and racing against time, Chaol, Manon, and Dorian are forced to forge their own paths to meet their fates. Hanging in the balance is any hope of salvation―and a better world.
And across the sea, his companions unwavering beside him, Rowan hunts to find his captured wife and queen―before she is lost to him forever. As the threads of fate weave together at last, all must fight, if they are to have a chance at a future. Some bonds will grow even deeper, while others will be severed forever in the explosive final chapter of the Throne of Glass series. Find it on Goodreads
There are the 5 books that i’m most anticipating for the months of September and October! I know I’m forgetting some, but they will be remembered eventually! What are you most anticipating?
Until next time, happy reading!
I’m so excited for Kingdom of Ash. Though my pre-ordered copy is only 720 pages. I also wasn’t a huge fan of Warcross but I’m looking forward to reading Wildcard. Great list! I’ve added Sadie to my TBR!!

There’s some discrepancies with how many pages Kingdom of Ash is. One said 900 and goodreads said over 1,000….

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Warcross either but I’m hoping Wildcard dives deeper into the worlds! And oh my gosh, Muse of Nightmares is just so beautiful to look at😍😍 and hopefully it doesn’t kill me haha.

I think I’ll need to go into Muse of Nightmares with a prepared heart. The first book was far more emotional than I expected! And I really hope that Wildcard goes more into the worlds. He got the base story in Warcross, so now I want more of the worlds. I hope it doesn’t just focus on the romance…..

Same!! I wasn’t really feeling the romance in Warcross at all, it felt a bit forced IMO. But I’m excited to see where Wildcard goes!

I’m glad I’m not the only one that felt that way. Everyone seems to be shipping them hard and it was just meh

Sadie sounds really interesting! It’s not something I would normally pick up, but I’m very intrigued by that synopsis so I just might have to try it out. And of course I’m super excited about Kingdom of Ash! I’m already expecting Maas to break my heart.

Sadie isn’t something I would normally pick up either. It seems in the realm of mystery/contemporary which is my least read genre, but this one sounded too good!

I am SO ready for Wildcard and Kingdom of Ash! Seriously! I’ve been waiting EONS for those books and they’re finally here. FINALLY.
Also curious about Escaping From Houdini – although I do still have to read Hunting Prince Dracula but that’s details, haha.

😂 I read the first book in that series and I wasn’t a fan. But I’ve heard that Hunting Prince Dracula was better. So maybe I’ll give it a go

I liked the atmosphere of it, but I totally couldn’t feel the connection between our two main characters, haha. Also heard HPD is better – especially on that front – which is why I’m keen on reading it. 😛
