Bookshelf Book Tag

I don’t do a whole lot of tags, but when I was tagged to do this one by the wonderful Jillian The Bookish Butterfly (check her out! You won’t be disappointed!), I knew I had to do this one! I absolutely love the questions and loved her answers 🙂 Bookshelves are like heaven for me (and basically any other bookworm). As soon as we see shelves it’s like a magnetic pull and we can’t resist! I was so excited to get tagged for this one because it gave me a reason to talk about them! So here we go!

HOW MANY BOOKSHELVES DO YOU HAVE?

Right now I have 3 full size shelves and one half shelf. I got them all from Ikea for an insanely low price! The full size shelves were on clearance because they discontinued the yellow background. I have space for one more full size shelf and I might need to pick one up soon!

HOW MANY BOOKS ARE ON YOUR BOOKSHELVES? OR HOW MANY BOOKS DO YOU HAVE?

I have roughly 425 books. I counted last month but since then I’ve unhauled a bunch and bought a couple more.

HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE YOUR BOOKS?

I have them organized by genre. All of the genres are separate except for fantasy and science fiction which I put together. Then I have all the books that I haven’t read yet on their own shelves.

WHAT IS THE OLDEST BOOK ON YOUR SHELF?

My oldest book is a copy of When We Were Very Young by A.A. Milne (author of Winnie The Pooh) printed in 1925. It’s got a bunch of poetry that includes Christopher Robin and a teddy bear that looks like Pooh Bear but isn’t named as so yet.

WHAT IS THE NEWEST BOOK ON YOUR SHELF?

 

I have two ways to answer this question. The most recent books I hauled were the hardcover (Slytherin) and paperback (Hufflepuff) special editions of The Chamber of Secrets. But the newest book that I have is an ARC of Sadie by Courtney Summers which doesn’t publish until September 4th…… so it’s technically from the future lol!

WHAT IS THE LONGEST BOOK ON YOUR SHELF?

It by Stephen King which is 1,166 pages. And yes I have read it! It took forever but I did it!

WHAT IS THE SHORTEST BOOK YOU OWN?

A House at the Bottom of a Lake by Josh Malerman at 118 pages

WHAT IS THE PREDOMINANT GENRE ON YOUR SHELF?

Fantasy, with science fiction being a close second.

Kind of but not a whole lot. I’ve got a few battery operated candles, owls, and some Harry Potter Funko Pop’s 🙂

Last week I finally went for it and reorganized my shelves. My son had taken the majority of a large bookcase just for his toys……. The life of a mother with an 8 year old son. But I ran out of space and had to kick his toys out! lol I bought him his own storage container and now I had so much space I couldn’t figure out what to do with it!
