Weekly Wrap Up – June 11 – 17

You know how some weeks seem to crawl on by? You might think it’s Friday but it’s really Wednesday? This week was the opposite. I was constantly a few days behind. It was such a weird and busy week! Appointments, errands, field trips, hair cuts, and everything else. I think that it’s because my surgery is coming this Monday and I wanted time to slow down…. I guess time didn’t listen. BUT – as busy as things were, I managed to read 2 books this week so I’m not complaining!

BOOKS I’VE FINISHED THIS WEEK:

A HOUSE AT THE BOTTOM OF A LAKE by Josh Malarian <—– (click for full review) 3.75 stars

This one was a bit of a surprise. I read Bird Box a few years ago and I was really underwhelmed. It had gotten a lot of hype but, due to the lack of detail, I wasn’t able to be scared. Basically, I didn’t know exactly what to be scared of! Some people enjoy that mystery. I guess I’m a different type of reader. Even though this one was just as vague, I enjoyed it a bit more. There was more detail, more examples of creepy things, and the obsession the characters felt was really interesting. I enjoyed this one!

MY PLAIN JANE by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, Jodi Meadows – 5 stars!
I finished this one on Friday night and loved every minute of it! It was just as cute, sweet, funny and quirky as My Lady Jane was. There was even a cameo of characters from My Lady Jane!! Not to mention a few references to well loved books….. I’ll talk about this more in my review that is set to publish after my hiatus.

BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:

Save the date

SAVE THE DATE by Morgan Matson
I’m not the biggest contemporary reader, but Morgan Matson is great! This one was highly anticipated mostly because my wedding day was the day that “if it could go wrong – it did”. I knew that I would relate to this book! Funny thing is – in the first chapter something happened that happened on my wedding day. So apparently I’m relating more than I thought already! An alarm went off…. on the day of my wedding we had a HUGE storm that knocked out the power to the venue which in turn set off the fire alarm. Luckily, my dad is a firefighter and quickly shut it off, but still it was a hilarious chain of events that day! I hope to fly through this one!

OTHER BOOKISH NEWS:

HIATUS AND TOP 5 TUESDAY:

I’m grouping these two together because they go hand in hand. Tomorrow I will actually be in surgery. It’s a small day surgery so I will be in and out, but I’ve decided to take the week off just to relax and heal. I plan on sitting on my couch, under a blanket, cuddling with my dog, and reading as much as possible!! I will return with a wrap up next Sunday. I might even do my own 24 hour readathon and blog the experience 🙂 But since I will be on hiatus, there will be no Top 5 Tuesday topic. If you do your own topic (or choose a topic from the past) please continue to tag me so I can see your lists!

STEPPING UP MY INSTAGRAM GAME!

Instagram is something that I love. I love photography and could spend hours looking at all the beautiful pictures. I made it my goal this week to step up my game and see what happened. I posted every day and it was successful I guess. I gained a few new followers but didn’t notice much change in the end. I’m really proud of the pictures I posted though, so that’s all that matters. I plan to do a post showcasing some of my favourites in the coming weeks

So that was my week. Busy but relaxed as far as reading goes. On Friday night I had a bon fire all by myself and finished a book. Just as I turned the last page it started to rain! It was so relaxing and soothing. Also good timing lol. I hope you all had an amazing week! I look forward to stepping away from the blog for a little bit but I will miss all of you! See you next Sunday!

Until next time, happy reading!

Okay, now I’m adding “Save the Date” to my TBR. This book seems so light-hearted and fun and that’s exactly what I will need after I finish the book that I’m currently reading. Best of luck with your surgery, sending a lot of positivity your way c:
