WHAT AN INCREDIBLE WEEKEND!!!
Because my husband and I run 2 business by ourselves, it’s rare that we get away. But this weekend we made a special trip to Toronto to meet my future sister in law’s family. And it was amazing! Her family is just as sweet, inviting, funny, and fantastic as she is herself. After only a few minutes, they felt like an extension of our family. They’re just the type of people that you’ve known for a few hours but felt like you’ve known them your whole life. I look forward to spending time with them again!
While we were there, we took the opportunity to see a few other things. If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you may already know what we did. On Saturday night, we headed over to the bar, The Lockhart, which is a Harry Potter themed bar. It was small and very busy (which is understandable lol) and I’m so glad to have had the experience. Then on Sunday we did brunch at our favourite restaurant called Barque, and took in a Blue Jays baseball game. They won! AND, we got to witness 4 home runs. Basically the weekend was nothing but amazing food and even better company. You’ve all been begging me for more pictures, so here they are!!
Here is the bar – The Lockhart. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the inside is something else! The longer you look, the more things you find from the movies and books.
For example, this is the side wall. There is the Platform 9 3/4 sign, old books, potion bottles, Delores Umbridge’s “rules”, spiders all in a line, owls, Quiddich trophies, wands and more. Every time I looked I found something new 🙂
This was the wall behind the bar. Potions and elixirs is right! Mixed in with all the alcohol was more books and potion jars. It was beautiful! Even more beautiful than the decor was the actual drinks……
On the left was the cauldron of “Betterbeer”. It was a frothy white mix that smelled like cinnamon and tasted like a boozy vanilla milkshake. It was all topped off with whipped cream and toasted marshmallows. Then the gorgeous clear cocktail was a “Gin Weasley”. It was garnished with babies breath and an orange rind……. and it – was – STRONG!!! Good, but strong.
And Harry Potter just isn’t the same without a chocolate frog!
“Enemies of the heir beware” was the bathroom mirror. I almost expected to see Moaning Myrtle coming out of a toilet or something!! But no, the toilet didn’t have any teenage ghosts lol. But the way down to the bathrooms was covered with beautiful murals. There was the Whomping Willow, the Weasley’s flying car, Hogwarts at night, and signs marking forbidden corridors. They were gorgeous and well done. There was so much more that I could have taken pictures of but it was just so busy!
Then Sunday we went to a baseball game. It was the most exciting game i’ve ever been to! They won and we got to see FOUR home runs! I’ve been to quite a few ball games in my life, but have yet to witness a single home run. So to see four in one game was amazing! I took a picture to show the proximity from the ball park to the CN Tower. We didn’t have time to go up in it, but they’re right next to each other. Oh, and I got a new Blue Jays shirt and drank a lot of beer – it was win win!
I’m finishing off this post with a picture of me with my kids. I’m wearing my new white striped Blue Jays shirt next to my son. My daughter is always cold so she’s in the black hoodie lol. Ok, yes, I’m short, but this picture makes me look even shorter. I’m bending down a little to hug my 8 year old son, but my 12 year old daughter looks 3 feet taller than me! lol
So it was a busy weekend, but one of the best I’ve had in a long time! The kids had a blast, we had some quality family time, and me and my husband finally got to take a break from our busy work lives. To make this weekend even better, I started and finished a book on the way home! So I even included some reading!! If you made it through all of this, thanks for listening to me ramble about my weekend journey!
Until next time, happy reading!
