Weekly Wrap Up – May 21 – 27

Lesson learned this week – plans change and go with the flow! There were a lot of ups and downs with my personal life. But there were a lot of positive things happening in the bookish and blogging world! I managed to have all of my posts written for the next 2 weeks (with the exception of reviews of course) and I got approved for a couple ARC’s that I thought I was too late for or wasn’t getting at all! My book haul will be posted on Friday June 1. As each month goes by I’m getting more and more excited to devour as many books as possible! Here’s what happened this week:

Only human

ONLY HUMAN by Sylvain Neuvel
This is the third and final book to the Themis Files series. It might be a little while before I post the review as I’ve got hauls/wrap ups/and TBR’s planned for the coming week, so i’ll mention a few thoughts here. It was good – well ok. I really missed all the action, secrets, confusion, and politics of the first two books though. This one focused a lot on the relationship between Vincent and Eva. Finding out that they were father and daughter while also dealing with an alien race is a little complicated. But it felt a little tame compared to the first two books. Though I have to admit that it was a pretty satisfying conclusion to the series! I will be keeping this author on my radar!

I am so close to finishing Legendary! In fact, I plan on finishing it tonight 🙂 I have the review planned to release tomorrow!

I have a lot of work to do this week which means a lot of time to listen to an audiobook. I read Dumplin a few years ago and was very surprised at how much I loved it! The characters were all so realistic and adorable, and I loved the message it sent. I can’t wait to dive into this one!

Keeping with my current reading of sequels, I FINALLY plan on getting to A Closed and Common Orbit!! I read A Long Way To A Small Angry Planet a few years ago and it surprised me on almost every level. I loved the science, the setting was amazing, but it was the fact that this was a VERY character driven story that surprised me most. All of the characters were so different and defined – I can’t wait to continue on the journey.

This was a big week for Top 5 Tuesday! The topic for this week was Top 5 Last/Ending lines. There are so many amazing and strong endings! This Tuesday’s topic is one i’m really excited for – mostly because I’m hoping you all tell me some new books to pick up. And that is the Top 5 Science Fiction! I also released the Topics for June! Hope you like them!

This is the main reason for my “plans change and go with the flow” statement. I had a doctors appointment this week and it went in an unexpected direction. He wants to do an exploratory laparoscopic surgery accompanied with a small procedure on June 18. I’ve been experiencing issues with Fibroids and a few other things (ladies, you’ll know what I mean more so than men….. if you catch my drift). It’s a quick 20 minute procedure and I’ll be in and out the same day, but it’s still considered surgery that I have to be put to sleep for. After that, I will know more about the game plan for my health and treatment. Like I said, nothing serious, but I’ll be taking the week of June 17 off from blogging. I will be recovering, sleeping, and reading as much as possible! Maybe i’ll actually be able to do a 24 hour readathon for once!!! YIPPEE!!!

My first ever TBR unhaul in the month of May went really well! Unexpected, but really well! I was a little nervous to start this, but now I’m wondering why I didn’t do it sooner! I’ve already chosen the books I’ll be reading in June – and it’s going to be good!

So that was my week! Chaos everywhere, getting things done, and some not so nice things to look forward too. I just hope that I can stay positive through it all and know that the surgery is a step to making things better on a daily basis. Hope you all had a wonderful week!!

Until next time, happy reading!
