Reader Confession Tag

I was tagged by the ever wonderful (and one of my bookish twins!) Paige at The Girl With All The Books. I love these questions and I might have some confessing to do….. so here we go!

1 – HAVE YOU EVER DAMAGED A BOOK?

Yes. Though it was on accident, and technically wasn’t me! I had a book out by the pool last year and the kids jumped in and splashed my book. Thankfully it was so hot the water evaporated almost immediately and the pages didn’t wrinkle!

2 – HAVE YOU EVER DAMAGED A BORROWED BOOK?

No! I know what it feels like to lend a book out to someone and have it come back damaged. There’s no way I would damage a borrowed book!

3 – HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO READ A BOOK?

I would say an average of about 5 days. But it depends on a lot of things. One – how much reading time I have available. 2 – if it’s a quick read. 3 – if i’m really into it. 4 – my mood. Sometimes I can get through a book in 2 days while others take about a week.

4 – BOOKS THAT YOU HAVEN’T FINISHED?

I currently have 3 books that I haven’t finished.

  • The Wise Mans Fear by Patrick Rothfuss – I set it aside about a year ago because it was 1000 pages and the third book is nowhere in sight. I figure that since I made it to 500 pages I can finish the last half shortly before book 3 is (ever) released.
  • Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan – had to set this one aside for an ARC and just never picked it up again…….
  • The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline – Was NOT in the mood for this one. It was a little slower paced than I was expecting and I felt a slump starting to creep in. It just wasn’t the right time for me

5 – HYPED/POPULAR BOOKS YOU DIDN’T LIKE

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. That will always be my answer.

6 – IS THERE A BOOK YOU WOULDN’T TELL ANYONE YOU’RE READING?

No. Not really. I don’t really read anything out of the ordinary. Other than books for my kids….

7 – HOW MANY BOOKS DO YOU OWN?

Ummmmmm. Well. A lot. I don’t buy a lot of clothes, shoes, make up or anything else. So literally the only thing I spend money on is books. The only thing I get for special occasions is books. I’m currently sitting at just over 425 books…. soon to be a little more….

8 – ARE YOU A FAST OR A SLOW READER?

Average…. question mark? LOL! Once again it all depends. I still read a little faster than average but it really depends on the book and the writing style.

9 – DO YOU LIKE TO BUDDY READ?

Hell to the no! Every time I try this I fail. My life is chaos and I read when I can. Sometimes I get ahead of schedule and sometimes I’m so far behind that they’ve already finished the book. It’s just too hard. I do technically buddy read with a books amino friend every once in a while but we’ve both accepted that we are always on different time lines and just catch up when the other has reached a certain spot.

10 – IF YOU WERE ONLY ALLOWED TO OWN ONE BOOK. WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

HARRY POTTER! Any one of them! It’s sad to think that I would never read another new book again, but I think that Harry Potter is such a large and incredible world that it would keep me occupied for a long time. Any one of the books is interesting enough and has enough detail to be entertaining, but I could use those details to link to other books in my memory and maybe even draw out all the connections.

I won’t be tagging anyone this time around, but if you haven’t done it and the questions seem interesting – you’re officially tagged!

Until next time, happy reading!

I totally agree with #5. I hated Gone Girl so much and I never made it passed chapter 3.

    1. I unfortunately finished it, in hopes it would get better. No. It got MUCH worse!

I love that you spend all your money on books lol. Me too! ❤ We have a lot of similar answers too. I've only done like one buddy read so far, but I'd like to try more. 🙂 Not sure if it's my thing either. Love this tag!

    1. Books are the only thing I allow myself to spend money on – my kids steal everything else lol!

    1. Same! I’ve lent out books and had them come back mangled and I refuse to do that to someone else!

  8. I get super careful when I borrow someone else’s book as well! And when I hand it back to them I get all nervous wondering if there’s a stain or tear that I never realized and start wondering how to apologize lol I’ve never damaged one though and hopefully I never will!

Oh! And thank goodness your pages didn’t wrinkle when they got wet! That’s one of the worst things! My friend had a Harry Potter book (brace yourself) she took to the beach and kept in her beach bag but when she went into the ocean the tide came in and DISASTER. When she got back her bag was SOAKED AND SANDY. You can only imagine the crime scene that was her book. I mean, to be fair she was like 10 or something, BUT STILL. Right then and there I made a mental note to never let her borrow a book if she was going to the beach hahaha

    1. I may have just fainted a little bit!!! Crime scene is the perfect word for that description. I’ve never taken a book to the beach for fear of sand. It gets everywhere!! Let alone water damage too…… ahhhhh!!!

  9. I definitely agree with #8! I can read a book in as quickly as 1 day or as long as two weeks.
