First Impression Friday #3

Welcome to another First Impression Friday! This is the third in the meme that was created by Joe at JW Martin – Storeys of Stories and he welcomes participants. Be sure to link a post of his so he can see your wonderful first impressions!

I joined in about a month ago and decided to participate every two weeks. That way I could include the books I read, the first impressions, and how it turned out. But I have to be honest – I love the idea so much that I’m super sad on the Fridays that I don’t get to do this! It’s such a fun post to write!! I have 3 books for you this week so let’s get into it 🙂

A court of frost and starlight

MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS – This was like coming home! The first chapter filled my heart with so much comfort. I was back with the characters and back in the world, finally able to settle on them after the craziness that was ACAWAR. I guessed that I would rate this book 5 stars…..

HOW I RATED IT – Of course I was right! This was a total 5 star read for me. Nothing much happened in the way of the plot, but, like I said, it felt like coming home. It was nice to see the characters start to relax and focus on themselves, their desires, and their futures, instead of war and conflict. There were some eye rolling moments but I’m total trash for this series!

The final six

MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS – I honestly didn’t know what to think about this book from the first 1-2 chapters. There was a lot of world building and character introduction, but it was well written and interesting. It was hard to tell right out of the gate where the plot was headed. I guessed that I would rate this book 4 stars…..

HOW I RATED IT – Meh, it was ok. I was wrong though as I rated it 2.75 stars. The writing was good, but the plot didn’t have enough forward movement to keep me interested. It was still interesting but when I looked back at the book as a whole, not a lot happened! And it also had one of the worst romances I’ve ever read. But the writing was still wonderful. I look forward to more from her in the future.

Lifel1k3

MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS – It started with a bot fight!!!! A BOT FIGHT!!! And it’s science fiction…… and it’s King Kristoff……. of course this one was going to be a 5 star read.

HOW I RATED IT – of course I rated it 5 stars!!! He could write down his grocery list and I would still probably rate it 5 stars. This man can do no wrong!

Arrow

I kind of feel like this weeks list was cheating. 2 of the 3 books are my auto buy/all time favourite authors. I’ve rated almost everything they’ve written 4.5-5 stars, so it was a no brainer. The Final Six was a surprise though! And thanks again to Joe for creating such a wonderful meme!

Until next time, happy reading!
