Weekly Wrap up – April 30 – May 6

May is starting off FANTASTIC!!! I can say, for the first time in a LONG ass time, that I am truly happy! I find myself hugging my husband more just because he’s there. I drive down the road with a smile on my face. This is the best I’ve felt in a long time! I still have some bad moments – running two businesses, a household, and everything that comes with motherhood and married life – it’s stressful! But I can handle things more. AND – I FINISHED THREE BOOKS THIS WEEK! 3!!! One of them was a graphic novel, but it counts!

BOOKS I’VE FINISHED THIS WEEK:

SAGA VOLUME 5 – This was a reread as I work my way to the newest released volume 8, so there will be no review. This is kind of where the storyline takes a turn for the better. I enjoyed all the other volumes but the family element and loyalty seems to become more prevalent. Loved it as much as the first time.

MY LADY JANE <—– (Full review) 5 glorious stars!!!
This book was so stunning! It was hilarious, had two slow growing and realistic relationships, and was just the right amount of ridiculous. I can’t believe I waited so long to read this one! Good thing about it though…. I don’t have to wait too long for the next one! This was also one of my TBR unhaul picks that I had to read for May and I’ve already read it! Woo hoo!

A COURT OF FROST AND STARLIGHT – One of my most anticipated reads of the year! I couldn’t wait to dive back into this world with all of these characters. I will be putting up my review tomorrow so I won’t say much else here 🙂

BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:

Technically, I’m not reading anything at the moment. I only just finished ACOFAS, so I haven’t decided what I’ll be picking up next. I think I’ll pick up Code Name Verity first though. Likel1k3 doesn’t come out until May 29th so I still have a lot of time to get to it. But….. it’s Kristoff….. and he’s calling to me!! So, I find myself conflicted lol

OTHER BOOKISH NEWS:

TOP 5 TUESDAY:

This week was yet another unpopular opinion week – The top 5 series I won’t be finishing! One of the participants even lost some followers due to her opinion… not cool! I promise to give you all a break from the unpopular opinion topics for a while lol! Some housekeeping though… I’ve had many new participants lately and it’s SO fantastic to have you all! But, PLEASE remember to link a post of mine and NOT the main site address! Just open any one of my posts and copy that link. That’s the only way I’ll get notified that you did a post and I can get you added to the list. This Tuesday’s topic is the Top 5 books I’d save from a fire!!

STEPPING UP MY INSTAGRAM GAME!

I love falling into the black hole of Instagram! I could spend hours drooling over all the beautiful pictures! But I’ve never been all that good at taking pics myself. I tried to make it my goal this week to post more frequently, so I went and got some new props. My husband laughed at me for it but whatever! Turns out it paid off! I was followed by one of the main publishing houses in Canada that I review for (Raincoast Books) and they even added my picture to their page with a blurb! SO EXCITING!! Here are a few recent pics I’ve posted (feel free to follow – seamless plug)

FIRST IMPRESSION FRIDAY:

I participated in First Impression Friday yet again and it’s possibly one of my favourite posts to do!! I love comparing how I felt within the first few chapters to how I felt once I finished it. This week taught me that even though I may not love it in the beginning, it may end up being my favourite book of the year!

Arrow

I know the next few weeks are going to be crazy busy for me work wise, so I hope that I can keep up this reading pace! I hope you all had a fantastic week! What was the one thing that happened this week that made you smile?

Until next time, happy reading!

You inspire me to try to read more! I feel like I’m just reading a bunch of text books but I’ll stop by the library. And for someone who doesn’t know how to take good pictures – that lay out looks soo good! I love your flat lay pictures already. I try to make a day out of the week to create photos for Instagram.

    1. Thanks so much! And yes, when your life is filled with textbooks, it’s so hard to find the time and motivation to read for pleasure. I don’t miss those school days! I hope you find the time to pick something up for fun soon!
Instagram is so hard for me! It’s starting to get a little easier with practise, but finding time is hard.

I think I figured out how people post so much lol – just take a bunch of pictures and post them spread out. That’s what I’m doing lol I gotta wait until next pay day to buy more art books 💕

        1. That’s what I should do. For right now I just take them as I need them and it’s a total pain to take everything out and set up for one picture. That’s a smart idea!

  7. I’m so glad you’re feeling better and had such a great week!!
