Top 5 books that need a prequel!

Happy Top 5 Tuesday everyone! I have to say that this topic appeals to my constant fan fiction heart. I appreciate the stories as they are presented, but my ever curious mind sometime wonders what happened before to get them to that point. How did the characters meet? What were they like when they were younger? So many questions! And maybe I’m a little greedy. Sometimes I just want more from a certain world or the characters. So here are the books that I wish had prequels….

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme where I explore different topics. If you are interested in participating I would love to have you! Here is a list of my Upcoming topics in April – please remember to ping back a specific post of mine so I get a notification and I will add you to the participants list!

 HP and the philosophers stone

HARRY POTTER

OBVIOUSLY!! I don’t think that I really need to explain my choice here. I just want more of everything! I want to learn about Harry’s Parents, how the Weasley’s met, baby Snape…. all of it!

the-night-circus

THE NIGHT CIRCUS

I absolutely loved this book! I felt that it was complete and wonderful, yet we told that there was quite the history behind their competition and that they were not the first to play this game. We got the gist of it all, but if there was ever a book published that covered that time period, I would be all over it!

Miss Peregrines

MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN

Throughout the course of this trilogy, we learned a lot about the origins of the peculiar’s. We got folklore and fairy tales, examples of peculiars past, the hollows, and the ymbryne’s. This series was so quirky and weird and made my heart happy. I think this is a case where I’m just looking for a little more time to live in this world. I loved the abilities and how they all interacted with each other. Any prequel would do really!

Wintersong

WINTERSONG

Wintersong was a book that set up such a large and impressive background to the origins of one of the characters (The Goblin King) and I really wish that I knew more! His beginnings of The Goblin King was constantly shrouded in mystery and, if I remember correctly, we still never found out who he was and how he became to be. Not to mention that he was not the first of his name! There’s so much more that happened before this book and I kind of wish that I had more info!

six-of-crows

SIX OF CROWS

I need more from this world, but, more specifically, I need a prequel of the lives of Nina, Inej, Jesper, and Kaz!! I know that there is the Grisha Verse trilogy that happened before this series, but I don’t think that they focused on these characters specifically. I could be wrong as I’ve never read that trilogy – so correct me if I’m wrong. If not a prequel, then a sequel! Just give me more!

Arrow

TOP 5 TUESDAY PARTICIPANTS:

Arrow

Prequels aren’t usually my favourite, but in the cases of these books, I’ll make an exception! But, until something like that is published, I’ll continue to make up elaborate lives of these characters before they made their way onto the pages. What do you wish you had a prequel for?

Until next time, happy reading!

They look like some good books to read. Specially 6 crows.

J.K. Rowling did write a really short kind of prequel. It’s really just a scene involving a young Sirius Black and James Potter. It’s cute though. I think it’s available free online somewhere.

    1. I’ve heard that there are little short stories that she’s put out there. But I’m greedy and want more 😂 at least I admit it!

A full book would be great.

  3. Oh, I would love a prequel to The Night Circus too. My friend is currently reading it for the first time and I am so afraid she is going to hate it.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. It’s one of those “love it or hate it” books. It’s not the fastest paced book but it’s so atmospheric and beautifully written. I know a few people that hated it. While it hurts me heart, I understand 😂

  4. I like The Night Circus as a standalone, personally. There are so many series out there, it was nice to read a book that was so brilliant all on its own. That’s just me though!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. You are absolutely right. I love series and trilogies, so a well written stand-alone is refreshing!! My curious mind is greedy though and wishes it could know more 😂 I hope she writes another book soon!!

I considered SoC but now I’m rethinking and I want to add it to my list. Definitely the Night Circus though, I love that!

    1. The both of us go back and forth and make us reconsider our choices 😂 I know when I see your list I’ll smack my forehead and wonder why I didn’t think of a book! Every. Time.

      1. kyera says:

Part of it is that I didn’t even do the full five… So when I get home from work I’m definitely going to add. But I think it’s a good thing that we thought of one of the other doesn’t, even if it doesn’t make our own list.

        Liked by 1 person

        1. Once again, I was sad I didn’t add ACOTAR. I wanted to, and almost did 😂

  6. Birdie says:

Harry Potter DEFINITELY needs a prequel! I’d love to read about Harry’s parents and the first battle against Voldemort. It should start early though, with the four best friends and Snape. When they met Lily. Everything.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yes! It needs to start early. But a story about how Voldemort came into power and that first battle needs to be told!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Birdie says:

Heck yeah. I mean, in a perfect world it would be a trilogy and tell everything from beginning to end. 😀

        Liked by 1 person

        1. Well it would HAVE to be a trilogy! Or 5…. 😂

          Liked by 1 person

  7. I totally agree about Harry Potter, I would kill for a book about his parents! And also the Night Circus! I’d love a book about the earlier competition!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I’m surprised to see just how many people listed The Night Circus. It’s on so many lists! Turns out we aren’t the only ones who want more of that competition 🙂

  11. J.W. Martin says:

Of course Harry Potter! How did I leave that off my list?? Mainly, I’d want to see a Snape novel. The circumstances around it don’t matter so much. Severus Snape and the Cursed Thing, Severus Snape becomes a Death Eater, Severus Snape vs Tenacious Acne. *shrug* Any of these would be fine.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Lmao!! Contact JK Rowling STAT!! Severus Snape vs Tenacious Acne needs to be published for the world 😂
Yes. I want mainly a Snape novel. I need to know more about him!!

  12. Rebecca @mylifeasasportsfangirl says:

Since I just finished the HP series, I have so many thoughts on this!!!! A book all about the Weasleys and how they met sounds amazing!

I’d like to learn more about Bellatrix because she’s evil and follows Voldemort so faithfully that I need to know more about her!!!!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Omg Bellatrix is a love to hate. I love her in the movies but I hate the character with a passion! We definitely need a prequel explaining how Voldemort got people to follow him so fiercely. But all the Weasleys!! They’re the best ever family in books!

I think I’m going to start watching the movies tomorrow since I’m done with the books. 🙂

        1. Oooh enjoy!!! They’re so good! Not too many times that I think a movie does a book justice but this is the exception

  13. I haven’t read Six of Crows but I have read the Grishaverse trilogy and I do not recognize any of those names from the trilogy. I am excited to read Six of Crows though!!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I think that I haven’t read the Grisha trilogy because I’m bitter that it doesn’t involve the six of crows characters lol. I loved everyone in that book and probably talk about them more than I should lol

I defiantly agree with you about Wintersong! The Goblin King is everything in that book. I need more from him!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I was a little sad with the sequel that he was almost non existent. Him (and who he was in his relationship) were my main reason for falling in love with that book!

I’m almost halfway through Shadowsong and it’s taken me almost 2 months just to get that far. 🙄 just because he is no where to be found. He was my main reason also!
